same. Heard not in squad not that he is dropped

It'll be very poor showing from him if this is the case.

If this is true, he'll probably not be bothered about this battle sadly - if his sights are firnly set elsewhere.

...he takes too many touches, he needs to move the ball a lot quicker, switch play to Barnes and he needs to get into the box if Barnes is driving into the area, Barnes tends not to anticipate and is not where he should be at the back post!!!

Tete had movement and shifted the ball quickly when he first arrived, now he holds on and get crowded out and channelled down the line on his weaker foot.

The kid is not suited to PL football and that should have been realised before we wasted his and our time. He could do fine in some leagues but not here. Still he is not the cause of our current crisis that is largely central midfield and core defending.

He's been crap for a while and never shows up in big games where the pressure is on. Looked like a right mardy git in the latest training video, and behaved badly at the last home game.

Just told my wife the rumour and her response was 'good!'.

How times change.

It’ll be 4-0 to them by 70 mins.
There’s no chance we come away with a point let alone a win. Not with our current playing squad.

That's the thing though. Our current playing squad is good enough for a mid-table finish. The problem is the focus, effort, will to win and guts. They don't have those.

Not a popular position. But I would go super defensive and load the midfield/defence. These days we simply can't defend. So the only way we win. Is if we remarkably find a clean sheet and hit them on the rare break / set-piece. We can't win if 2-0 in 15 mins. Lock it up and sucker punch them. Play an open game and we are mincemeat

How do you know this when we haven’t tried attacking in years?

If we sit back, we will concede, because like you yourself have said, we can’t defend.

And we do have recent and consistent proof of that.

Sadly we need players who are prepared to break a leg to save a goal

too many of ours might think they are but deep down they aren’t - they are professional athletes and highly competitive in their nature - they will be giving their all but in reality they aren’t ‘running through that brick wall’. It’s fine margins

madders knows he’s going irrespective of our fate

the out of contract boys know they are going

Take Castagne for example - he’d prefer to be playing in Italy or Germany.  He knows that if we stay up then there’s a good chance he isn’t sold. If we go down he knows that he will be sold (and at a price which gets him a chunkier s/o fee).  Does he dive into a challenge which may mean he gets hurt?  he won’t be the only one.  The board have enable this scenario to play out and they  are culpable

It actually doesn’t matter what style of football or players we play.  The defence and midfield have been brain dead all season, they will over play and give the ball away after passing around the back.

Can’t get the brainwashing out of their heads. I mean easy if you had a brain. Just play it quicker and be more direct. Get stuck in. Chase everything and try to win at least a couple of tackles. It’s NOT rocket.

This sort of thing does my head in.  He's probably not in the right "head space".  He knows he's going to Newcastle next season and doesn't want to jeopardise Champions League football or do anything to upset his future fan base.

We pay him some hamdsome wages to do a job for us.  Talk about professionalism.

...if he was on loan from Newcastle, then you could understand!!!

Not being in the right headspace because of a rumoured transfer does smack of unprofessionalism, which means that is the type of player you are going to get. It says something about that player's mentality.

they've drawn against some shit up there of late before they beat forest 2 nil. In fact i think they've only got 1 win in the last 5 there, but they haven't come up against a team more porous than OJ simpson's defence, more devoid of spirit than a presbyterian drinks cabinet, more disjointed than the screenplay of tenet, less aggressive in physical duals than Gandhi. A team that has Sir Chris Witty giving advice on how closely to man mark and david blaine devising different ways for the midfield to magically disappear on a weekly basis.

A club that seems to have taken most of the plot of 'The Producers' as the blueprint for their last 2 seasons, but has forgotten to unwittingly stumble upon a formula for success.

A team that will go down in history as being as shit as 2001's post lord mayor's show rabble of Walker Marshall Elliot Sinclair Davidson Impey Savage Wise Scowcroft Deane Akinbiyi.

The issue was that team had no creativity, no goals and terrible organisation. This team is brimming with goals, has international standard midfield strength and creativity and more than enough defensive experience to not thave conceded MORE goals than that 2001 shower of shite under micky adams.

The fact they have contrived to do so means the club deserves relegation more than any other club other than southampton. because of the pure arrogance that has frittered away the opportunity  we had to establish the playing legacy first, before rerouting funds and focus into playing monopoly with real estate rather than focusing on the pitch, reserves and youth team - all of which are shot to shit despite being in the greatest training facility on earth (allegedly)

If it helps us to lose Rudkin and Whelan, to devise a new investment strategy under a new regime, and to sell that dream to a Graham Potter looking to rebuild his way into the premier league organically then maybe it will have been worth it. But it's a big maybe.

In short, we probably can't take too much solace from newcastle's recent lack of resounding victories at St James' Park.

The same squad give or take that won the FA cup?

Heard rumours that Maddison is dropped and that he isnt even in the squad tonight...

Happy days we got a win without him against Wolves, he's not playing for the team, an I'd sooner we had some players in there that are, the better chance we have.

A lot of people dissing madders

the club may well now be facing up to the reality that they are very likely relegated

and their best chance of a bounce back is selling players like Maddison and Barnes for decent money in the summer to be able to maintain as strong a squad as possible (and bring a couple in)

if he was to suffer an injury today or Sunday, it would be even more disastrous for our finances than relegation is going to be.  Maybe the judgment is that he won’t be the difference in winning the two games. that the formation they want to play tonight doesn’t need to jemmy him into it . that they’d rather play kel up top with vards than find a space for madders.

If playing them helped to keep us up and they got injured in the process, that would still be better than getting relegated.

I don't think the club has thrown in the towel, though. IF Maddison is out, it is likely his decision.
