Popular Post Mickyblueeyes Posted 15 June 2023 Popular Post Share Posted 15 June 2023 I have no idea if Enzo is any good but just having him on the verge of being appointed makes me feel so much better. Not because of him or anything, just the start of a new era which we have needed for 18 months.

filbertway Posted 15 June 2023 Share Posted 15 June 2023 Not particularly against this as he's coming from a club with exceptionally high standards off the pitch as well as on. So you'd like to think he'd kick us into shape off the pitch, maybe break up this old boys club we've got going on. On paper he's a promising appointment, as long as we shoots of progress (not necessarily on the pitch) then I'm happy to have him. It does smack of Rudkin going.. His style of play is very likely to be different to that of Rodgers and how we've been playing last 12-18 months. It's a new face, new ideas. The start of the refresh.

I want to be be positive but reality is this is just gambling and saving money There are no guarantees, we either sign a dark horse like Maresca who has potentially a higher ceiling or lower floor or one of the usual suspects who is a steady pair of hands but a bottom PL manager at best. I'm happy to see the club make a gamble on someone who may prove top be a top manager in time. You don't get to be assistant manager to Pep if you're a mug and he'll have a good insight to the young players of Man City and have Pep's ear. Our starting XI next season might be 6/7 of the players already here so the other 4/5 will be made up of loans and hopefully 2/3 good buys.

Popular Post Lambert09 Posted 15 June 2023 Popular Post Share Posted 15 June 2023 For all the shit weve thrown at the club recently. I must admit that im proud we are taking a bit of a gamble on this. We want to be ambitious, we want to get back to challenging the big boys and to do that, you need to take a gamble. Whether thats on players or coaching staff. It would have been easier for them to make a boring appointment with a track record but that wouldnt help us grow the club. Clubs have shown that the best approach is to grow somethinG for the prem rather than sign stop gaps who you already know arent good enough for the prem. Of course Enzo could go wrong, but so could anyone... I think that the potential of what he could be as a manager is well worth the punt. This could be better than if we'd stayed up and I know that sounds baffling, but if we stayed up, theres the chance we feel more pressure to hire a proven name. We could have ended up with a Marsch type. Im very optimistic about this and one thing is sure, he is going to try to play beautiful football... the success will come down to whether or not Glover can get the right players for what we want to do. If we can get Borges in that would be a great start!!! It does look like he prefers a 3-5-2

BKLFox Posted 15 June 2023 Share Posted 15 June 2023 If a man is to be judged by the company that he keeps then it is no surprise Enzo Maresca is in demand. The assistant manager to Pep Guardiola also boasts a 30-year friendship with Roberto De Zerbi. He could learn more than most by accident De Zerbi has said that they share "similar ideas about how the game should be played" and Guardiola was impressed enough by his work with Manchester City's development team to bring him back to the club as his assistant when Juanma Lillo departed So not only can he lean on Pep but De Zerbi who gets the thumbs up in the forum also.

Claridge Posted 15 June 2023 Share Posted 15 June 2023 Will get more benefit from the fans than some of the other names mentioned. I'm not bothered by an immediate return if he can show that he has a plan to get promotion attempt in a couple of seasons. Definately a gamble, if it doesn't work out we will be fxxked. I presume he has been gaurenteed a certain amout to spend.

Tielemans63 Posted 15 June 2023 Share Posted 15 June 2023 I've got this feeling that, sometime around Christmas, Rudkin will go to get some stationery from an empty office at Seagrave and Dean Smith will still be sat at his desk in there.
