Every appointment is a risk. What this club badly needs is a new mentality, attitude and outlook. This soft, nice club image has to go.

Agreed. We need a new identity the last one left before the players did

Leicester City reportedly turned to seek the thoughts of former midfielder Esteban Cambiasso on the potential appointment of Enzo Maresca.

City are said to be closing in on bringing the Manchester City assistant to the club as the new manager. An appointment will bring an end to the search which has been taking place since relegation to the Championship was confirmed on the final day of the season.

Interim manager Dean Smith along with Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker were also said to have been interviewed in the process, but Maresca has turned out to be the outstanding candidate. The Italian reportedly impressed club chiefs with his philosophy and vision for the future of the club.

With City now reportedly closing in on a move for the 43-year-old, the Telegraph says that City turned to Cambiasso for his thoughts in the search. The Argentine spent one season with City as they survived Premier League relegation in 2014, and remains close to the club’s hierarchy.

Cambiasso spent 10 years of his playing career in Italy with Inter Milan, lifting the Champions League trophy with the club. He also currently does some punditry on Serie A football for Italian TV.

The City fan favourite would therefore be able to provide an insight into Maresca, although the two have never played together. It has been suggested by some fans that Cambiasso could one day return to City in a coaching role, having achieved his UEFA Pro Licence after leaving the club in 2015.

Cambiasso played a total of 33 times for City in his one season at the club, instantly becoming a hero to fans despite his short stint at the King Power Stadium. He still follows City’s fortunes too, putting a message to the club on social media when relegation to the Championship was confirmed.

Any manager can / could succeed or fail. I’d rather take the best manager in the world’s assistant than Steven Gerrard. Not everyone is going to be happy with any decision the club makes, but at least this one feels fresh and interesting. If it doesn’t work we move on but it shows ambition and a clear desire to change what we’ve had for the past 12 months.

Seriously think some fans will never be happy. Why not gamble? Most other options were horror shows or not interested.

Yeah, I think you're right, all managers are gambles at times, look at Spurs and Conte, many pundits thought he'd push them on. It's going to be a lot about recruitment, that is what's vital, the coach has to be knowledgeable about motivation, coaching and tactics, and this guy should know those facets, certainly the man City players appreciate him

He will have a bit of a headstart in that 7 players have already left the club. He won't have to deal with the boring Tielemans saga or find a buyer for Perez and Amartey. And he still havs some good players to work wurh in Iheanacho, Barnes, Justin. Hopefully Ndidi rediscovers his form as well.
