Frustrating Foxes

Recommended Posts

Frustration is an understatement.

The more the season draws to a close and I see the likes of West Ham and Brighton doing what we were doing such a short time ago, I just find myself getting angry.

I'm fuming at this club's negligence and pretty much hate all of its constituent parts. The board, the players, and especially the ex-manager.

It's like a nice shiny house infested with bugs. Call the exterminators.

100% this all day long.

We need to get back to this structure. Its more about this than having a fancy golf course training ground, you need the mentality, the coaching, the recovery, the fitness etc etc etc. All of that has been eroded under Rodgers, it started under Raneri who believed his wasy were better, same with Rodgers. I actually think Puel did mor eplayer development than Rodgers ever did..

I agree.

Seagrave was a dreadful idea. And I think it had a lot to do with the mentality of players. They’re getting Molly coddled, and turning up to that facility everyday must allow for complacency to keep in.

It is up there with the likes of Liverpool, United and Man City….. even Terry was reportedly blown away but it, isn’t that wrong? These clubs have been built up over time and have the success on the pitch to justify such facilities. We’ve tried to keep up by developing the infrastructure but we’ve neglected the football.

If I were the club, I’d **** it off. Sell it to someone and move back into the old training ground. It won’t happen but I think the club needs to take a step back and reassess what it actually wants…. You can’t have it all in one go, it is like we’ve let the success get to our heads, and gone made with development but have completely taken what goes on, on the pitch for granted. The entire football side of the club stinks, it absolutely sucks ass, yet we’ve got a nice fancy training ground and are planning this huge stadium renovation, it’s embarrassing.

I think we need Pearson back, not as manager but as DOF.

It was the equivalent of building the world's greatest car showroom, and then only having enough money left over to fill it with Dacia Dusters and Kia Picantos.

Exactly this.

Why Pearson gets so much respect from me wasn’t all to do with what he did for us on the pitch, but he leaves nothing to chance. There’s no winging it under Pearson, each area of the club had a specialist heading it up. From injury prevention to in game analysis, he had it covered.

It’s why we were so successful, and in my opinion it’s one of the biggest reasons we went onto win the league. Because the infrastructure of the club was sound, everyone knew what they were doing. It wasn’t the team that won the league it was the entire organisation from top to bottom, that was when the club was at its peak.

Claudio was the first manager to start messing with that system, and since then we’ve just made mistake after mistake and have tried but failed to recreate that structure.

Pearson is a rare breed in football, I think he likes security, he likes things to be done properly… I imagine he’s the type of guy who when decorating a room will spend a week prepping for it so he knows it will be done right first time round.

Like you say, it’s a model we really need to get back to.

The lack of this type of structure and organisation is exactly why I'm not hugely bothered about the prospect of another season in the PL.

We're not at the level. It's going to take a root-and-branch restructuring, a sweeping culture change.

Trying to do that in the top division would leave us fighting at the bottom and relegation next season would just prolong the inevitable.

I'm really angry that we got here, but now the club has to have a good look at itself and evolve quickly. If we can take advantage of our facilities and create a proper team ethic we will be well placed to begin a successful new chapter.

I'm really tempted to say Bielsa is exactly the type of character for a comprehensive rebuild... probably just as well he's unavailable

Schmeichel left - our captain and no 1 keeper through various leagues. We allowed him to leave and without properly replacing him but instead the no2 comes in and stays in despite his multiple errors...

Evans got injured, Soyuncu got bombed out, Fofana left, JJ injured and ricky P too for the majority of the year. Leaving us with a makeshift defence of new replacements, young lads or even sometimes midfielders!

And we wonder why our goals conceded is so high? Yet actually we have scored as many goals as Man U?!

Vardy is old and we always knew this day would come. But instead of building up Iheanacho to play alongside him/start taking his place - we rotated with Daka, who is quick and nothing else.

We were calling out for a winger - one of our weakest positions. Could we really not afford to keep Lookman? But Tete did look to be an exciting Brazilian signing and that game against Villa wow... but that was literally his only good game.

I actually have no idea what has happened to Ndidi - its baffling. I guess confidence really can make the world of difference but I don't think it helps playing in front of our makeshift defence.

Tielemans and Maddison are too good for this team now and along with all the other players we have let go over the years, such as Mahrez and Kante then unfortunately these will go too but with minimal value added to us.

Couple this along with our arrogance that our squad is too good to be in the position it is (look at chelsea after spending loads and Everton 2nd year in a relegation fight).

Keeping Brendan for too long and some of his stupidly stubborn decisions is why we are where we are. I had it on good word that Unai Emry was coming to a Midlands club and I was excited as surely it was going to be us. That's when we should have changed it! Look at Villa now, competing for european football! However when we couldn't beat Blackburn was when it hit home how low we had fallen and the climb back up in one of the toughest leagues.

The Board will be kicking themselves when they look back at it but unfortunately its the fans who pay for their mistakes most.

I have the feeling the restructure we need would be easier in the premier league, the reason being there are more financial benefits from being in the premier league. This is all significantly reduced when you drop down, and to heavily invest comes at a major cost if you get it wrong.

The rebuild wouldn’t need to be as drastic in the PL I don’t think, we would just need to invest into the spine of the team, sell a few key players and look to stabilise the team. In the championship, it would require an entire rebuild, that would need to be ready to go by the end of this season, and it won’t be.

I don’t trust this set up with that kind of rebuild. It would all need to be done quickly and efficiently, and I bet if you sat the board down today and asked if we were going down, they would honestly say no.

My main frustration watching West Ham last night, is that even with the threat of relegation they never once considered ditching the European competitions.

We pretty much gave up on the conference league because BR didn't care about it, no effort whatsoever in that Roma second leg.

Think what the momentum of a European trophy win could have done for us going into this season!

West Ham have had a good season in the end, top flight survival and will play in a European cup final.

I always felt West Ham would get out of it. Just seem to have players that can dig in more.

Everytime i see video of or around Seagrave, it looks like a soulless, cold and barren place. Having to go there everyday would fill me with absolute dread. The only image i really have of it is wind - lots and lots of wind, and everyone wrapped up because they look freezing cold even when its pretty warm outside. It feels its has nothing to relate you to the city.

Having been to a few U23 games, it's definitely windy lol

You're right though, I mean it's more or less in Nottinghamshire give or take a few miles, and the majority of our players live in Notts too.

So it's not just the training ground that's detached from the area, the players are too.

When we were at BD the majority made the most of what is a county with beautiful countryside and villages to live in.

Now that it's close to Nottingham that's where they've all drifted to.

I don't know if it has any impact but like you say, no real identity to Leicester any more.

Even the club seem to make use of Nottingham as a city base, Tete is currently living in Fofana's old flat that literally looks into the City ground!

The issue isn’t Seagrave it’s our incompetence to use the facility to its best use.

If we use the facility correctly or the sporting departments with the right staff we should be flying in the league we are basically treating it like a holiday hotel.

This probable relegation really hurts because it is so based on arrogance, incompetance by the board and Rodgers. I do think many fans have been complacent and somewhat delusional. A fan for over60 years I find it distressing that the Thai family, easily our best owners are in real danger of tarnishing their reputation and image. I find Rudkin whispering in Tops ear as infuriating as Rodgers little clapping. There will be a chance to rebuild but will Top listen to competent advisors and not the morons who share responsibility for this horrendous situation

Its a new facility, so there is no blueprint for what its best use is. Thats something the whole club would have to work out over time. But its deeper that just using equipment and facilities -  its cultural and mental and sometimes that takes time. Anyone who has changes offices knows the transition doesn't always mean productivity goes up.

I don't think I buy into that this infrastructure should make us 'fly'. Super facilities don't turn championship players into PL superstars, nor do they fast track 19 year old kids into PL starters. Growth of players will still happen over time and its usually playing experience in the right games that makes that happen. Its also finding the right youth talent is key to all that, and you don't just churn through hundreds of top tier options every year. The infrastructure should have been able to provide us an edge over time, but the problem is that we didn't have time.

Remember that last half an hour against Atletico in the Champions League? We went out that night but boy was I proud of those players. The definition of leaving it out on the pitch.

This team simply can't throw the kitchen sink in games where we have to win. I never see us lump balls into box at a desperate attempt to get something in the dying moments. There's no urgency when the pay packet in secure and no pride in wearing that shirt

I can take defeats when we go out trying
