I remember articles saying Maguire was going for £30m. That and 25 million is an insult, we need to put our foot down with them now and tell them we won’t be doing any dealings with them at all in the future even if it spites ourselves. To take it to it's furthest extreme, if any player has any thoughts of leaving at all would you just cancel their contact on the spot and let them go for free? Assuming the answer is no then there is obviously a point on the scale between A and B where its reasonable to let Barnes go. People hoping for a tidy fee just want to see the club manage it's assets sensibly. Being reckless with them is how we ended up getting relegated and in to financial insecurity. There's a big difference between a player who is willing to move if his club wants him to and one who is actively seeking to leave and will throw his toys out of the pram if he doesn't get it.
