Barnes

The sales of Maddison and Barnes have brought in as much money as the total value of the squads of the majority of clubs in the Championship. With this advantage not getting promoted would be a major failure.

But...this is exactly my point...?

Vardy = will he be good enough and play enough at 37?

Maddison replacement = will he be good enough? Can we trust the club to sign a player who replaces even half his contribution?

Barnes = as above

I'm seriously trying to think of a player we signed to replace one we'd sold who was anywhere near as good!

If you haven’t accepted it yet then get on board - we are starting again - the quality we had needed to be sold as we simply can’t afford them anymore - we now need to try and get some through the door who can mature over next few years and give us that quality again - today is about the now - best of luck to madders and barnes - did well for us but unfortunately that utter catastrophe last year means everything has to change - we start again

I absolutely hate it and it pisses me right off but your bang on

It’s all good selling these players now but if we do get promoted then we won’t have the quality to stay up!

we will invest again if we go up. Plus you don't need wholesale changes to survive in the prem.  The bottom half of the prem's quality isnt far from the top half of the championship these days.

We will stop hemorrhaging money and revert to being sensible and well ran.

Need some clever signings and some academy graduates to resume our previous business model. In the meantime let's enjoy the championship roller coaster.

We didnt stay up with Barnes, Madders, Youri and Vardy in the team!

If we get back up, we are likely going to have a tough time staying up but need to take comfort from the fact Forest, Bournemouth and Fulham did, all without much quality.  There will need to be a second phase of the rebuild if we go up.

Posting a link that is 4 years old from a far from reputable source is hardly convincing!

We sold Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Townsend, Janmaat, Cabella and Cisse for about £100m when we went down, losing in transfers or loans about 20 players from our squad. Spent about £60m on some players, + a couple of loans. We came back up as Champions and finished 10th in the top flight the following year.

You'd have had to have been circling the drain in the top flight for ages to have a squad incapable of doing well in the Championship. I'd be staggered if you didn't come straight back up. Maybe as champions, maybe not, but you will be back in 24/25, I'm convinced of it.

I'd absolutely love us to go for Keane Lewis-Potter as his replacement. Brentford might just be tempted in letting him go.

good shout, but surely theyd look for what they got for him if they sold him(possibly more)

Let's not forget a decent amount is likely going to have to go towards covering our losses.
