They seemed to think ref had awarded a goal?

Surely even without communication it would have been obvious to spot that hadn't happened.

Basically sounds like the VAR wasn't watching at all.

Used to be opposing manager who said they didn't see it when put on the spot now officials at it.

Well Klopp took that better than expected.

Although he does insist that Jones foul wasn’t a red, I’m sure if reversed on his player he’ll be saying dangerous and should be a red.

We know what’s happened with him riding over the ball and unfortunately hitting a grounded leg but I’d imagine most clubs up and down the country have had a sending off for that, we certainly have. We want consistency and at least they being consistent.

Jota, After his (their) antics with us midweek where they seemed to get away with constant fouls, he’s been pulled. The 1st 1 does he cross the back of him and knick him slightly or does the spurs player trip himself? If knicked then it’s a foul and was he stopping a break ‘take 1 for the team types’ therefore a yellow. It might look harsh but ‘pro foul’ + Neville also says he could have got a yellow for the previous challenge so is ref just adding up and saying yellow for persistent fouling?

No issue with 2nd yellow out of control both feet off deck.

The big call, sadly it’s pure and simple human error, if VAR thought they heard on field decision goal and they quickly looked to make sure he was on side which we clearly see then it’s just a simple communication error on the day & that’s that.

How the lino flagged it I don’t know he obviously wasn’t keeping up with play & probably more on him that anyone else, but it’s a human error and happens from championship down and accepted as part of win some lose some.

The issue is protocols, what is said between officials on these checks and then the not showing on screen or conversation on tv.

They continue to stick their heels in and want to reinvent the wheel because it’s football when Rugby, cricket and anything else show there is a working system.

The words check complete is not enough, obviously we don’t hear what he’s been asked to check, but using rugby, we all see/hear the ask, “on field decision try unless you can advise otherwise” (words to that affect) reply “we can see no clear and obvious reason why you can’t award the try, stick with on field decision, you may award the try” (again words to that affect)

I understand the need to speed things up but if in football the wording is “check” & “check complete” then that’s open to misunderstanding.

After that the fact you can’t step in after this miscommunication is daft, it also happens in rugby whereby you can’t reverse a decision once the conversions been taken but usually not much of a problem as there’s time between awarding and taking.

Here once ref pointed to free kick offside the protocol has failed in that VAR can’t jump in, there was enough time to jump in and say No no it’s a goal, prior to free kick being taken yes there will be shouts of you don’t know what ya doing and the talk would be about that from spurs perspective but it would have been right.

To not be able to say “stop sorry miscommunication, it was a goal” is all on the protocol

Can't argue with the Jones red.

Jota 1st yellow was never a yellow, if his knee has clipped the player it was unintentional and therefore not a cynical pro foul. However he was stupid to dive in like he did just 90 seconds later.

The miscommunication was a joke.

OK so they thought the on field decision was a goal, but after they informed the ref the game was getting restarted from a free kick - surely in these 35 seconds someone in VAR should have informed the ref that it was a goal. It may only be a human error,  but it is a complete and absolute shambles that it should and could have been corrected, but instead they let it play out and hope the millions watching didn't notice

They need to do the same as Rugby where usually the on field ref makes the decision. Have VAR clearly talking to the ref why it is replayed on the Big Screen (all PL grounds have them) and let the referee decide. You can still use the lines to prove offside.

Anfield and OT don’t.

Probably why they don’t enforce the communication en mass more !

VAR is such a bore, I'd rather have the controversy of tight decisions being talked about after the fact.

Delighted it's cost Forest a goal, but not missing it one bit down here in the wilderness.

Is this the worst super Sunday game ever? Two of the most unappealing teams.

Forest v Brentford feels like a Championship game

wtf are the forest fans moaning at,

that was a clear second yellow card

Everything about that club is weird…..

They’ve got Jabba the Hutt as an owner, and sloth as a manager….. the fans may as well turn up in their pants, they’re ****ing clueless.

It’s a fallacy to football that they’re in the premier league…. Makes me sick.

How was there no penalty on Wissa?

How was that Liverpool goal disallowed yesterday. Now nothing will surprise me in this shambles of a league. It’s a shame when we get promoted we will have this shite to deal with.
