Premier League Thread 2023/2024

Bit of a tangent but I’ve just had a look at Forest‘s full squad.

They haven’t been as reckless as made out (loans, free agents and one-year deals), but it’s still a massively bloated squad with a dozen non-academy players out on loan.

That’s surely going to bite them on the arse in 2-3 years. It’s offset by selling Johnson and probably MGW, but these lads won’t be on peanuts either.

It’s pointing out the obvious, but it’s been largely forgotten because they’ll be fine this season.

Solid reporting from the New York Times…

Everton Sale Stalls Amid Questions About Buyer’s Financials

777 Partners, has failed to provide audited financial statements to a British government regulator that must approve the deal.

Also, this gem…

Everton’s finances are so dire that the club requires monthly infusions of millions of dollars, most recently a multimillion-dollar loan from 777 Partners, to keep operating.

Good job Newcastle have the money to not worry too much about wasting it and will probably go out and buy a replacement.

Everton fans still praying 777 Partners aren't whiffy -- even though they named it after a 1,000-1 slot machine gamble.  lol

A company what needs cold hard cash is doing a deal with a company what consistently fail to pay onetime and have cashflow issues of their own.

If tonali is suspended does he still get wages from newcastle? How does it impact FFP?

I'd think it's 0 pay and that newcastle could go out and  get a replacement for the length of the suspension but not sure.

As for everton, hope they get relegated but not going to wish any club ceases to exist. Can't imagine that being us and having nothing to support.

The tone of reports for tonali compared to Toney are hugely different.

Has to be really though as the culture of betting is different in the UK compared to Italy. A lot of people rightly have sympathy with Toney considering the hypocrisy with football's affiliation with betting sponsorship.

Liverpool are going to be getting the rub of the green with these marginal decisions now given the fallout of the VAR shambles at Spurs.

It's not a howler, but I very much doubt a Liverpool player at Anfield would have been dismissed in those circumstances
