You only think thats a pen if you've never played football or you were a forward and still biased

100% manufactured that lol

Exactly what Gary O'Neill said in his BBC interview. He watched it back with the ref in their room afterwards and the ref was still insisting it was a penalty.

I feel that there are some incidents when the on field decision should be ignored. The decision on the ball going out has got to be guesswork at full speed. VAR can look at a freeze frame. In cricket they got rid of the ‘soft signal’ because third umpire decisions were being based on guesswork from the umpires.

Surely all clubs need to get together and say they want VAR binning, put it to a vote, etc, i'm fairly confident a vote would go in favour of binning it.

It may be argued we'd be left behind the rest of Europe/World (We don't tend to hear of their controversies whether that's because they don't have many or ignorance of not taking any notice), but when it's being used in the way it is in England it's not improving the game is it, especially when the rhetoric that this is "the best league in the world"

Binning VAR won't get rid of controversies but it will get rid of an aid that is meant to avoid controversies causing even bigger controversies and something referees can continually hide behind.

Ive seen it and if you think its a pen then you've never played football, or you are biased.

Sooner VAR is binned off the better.

Goal line tech is the peak of football technology, let's take that win.

Every week it’s the same, decent games of football, some great goals, performances by teams and individuals and all we are talking about is VAR.

Just step back, accept human errors will occur and get on with it. Let the referee in the middle make a decision with the two linesmen.

Anything other than goalline technology is just moving the decision from one man’s subjective real time opinion, to another persons subjective opinion after watching for 2 or 3 minutes on a screen.

All started with Sky and co making these decisions made by one personal with one look the main topic of conversation.

It's 100% a TV thing. Absolute disregard for the fans who pay a lot of money to go to the stadia and create the atmosphere - who made the game. VAR is ****ing disgusting - the next thing you know they'll be holding the world cup in Qatar and Saudi Arabia or something.

Reckon it’s offside when it finally comes off joelintons thigh and drops to Gordon

There's no way to judge the offside because there isn't a VAR camera that can see the ball.  Hence it's impossible to judge whether Gordon was in front of it.

I agree.  Chelsea got a penalty against Burnley earlier this season, given by the ref on the field, when the big question was whether the contact was inside or outside the area.  The still photo showed the contact was inside, but also shows that Sterling was half way to horizontal before contact had been made.  VAR was happy to confirm that it was a penalty, presumably on the grounds that Sterling was actually hovering and could have floated towards goal if he hadn't touched the Burnley defender.

A lot of the penalty problem isn't with VAR, actually.  It's with the referees themselves.  A lot of them genuinely believe that if two players touch and one of them falls over, it is a foul by the other one.  "Tripping" as an offence, does not mean that player A has done some action that made player B fall over.  It means that player A and player B touched each other and player B threw himself down.  Player B has finished on the floor and therefore he was tripped, end of story.  It is literally impossible for player A to avoid "fouling" player B.

I get what your saying but sadly, with technology taking over more and more and AI etc, they won’t bin it.

And it does work in other sports. It’s not the technology but ingrained incompetence and/or corruption in this sport due to the amount of money involved.

For a start, as has been said over and over, it needs to be run by impartial people who are not part of PGMOL and in the ‘mates club’.

Secondly, what about a challenge based system like in tennis? Rather than every single decision being looked at, you get one per half or something. If your teams manager doesn’t get it checked or has already used it, tough shit. I feel it would limit the use of it and put the onus of when back on the teams involved.

Obviously would still need competent and honest individuals involved though. I dunno, just know it won’t get binned and thinking how it could be implemented better :dunno:
