sdb Posted 30 July 2023 Share Posted 30 July 2023 The whole club is a bit of a shambles isn't it. You'd do well to turn a club so badly so quickly on a management simulator, let alone in real life.

Even if we had everything well run and were in the PL, likely they will have still have left. It’s frustrating because homegrown talent is so cost-effective, means more to the fans and higher ceiling on profit. But perhaps other players will see the pathway we offer - hoping Alves, Braybrooke and Marcal-Madivadua, as well as perhaps Nelson and McAteer, have breakthrough seasons. Our relegation, if anything ought to increase the chances of our academy players coming through but no doubt tempted to go to Liverpool and face an uphill battle of making it. Big wake up call for our academy? Seen precious evidence of much change in recent years. Yeah it’s so poorly ran right now. But on his side I don’t think his been advised that well. He will be stuck in Liverpools u18 for the season and if he stayed he would have been playing in our u21’s and if he impressed at that level there’s absolutely no reason he wouldn’t get some first team minutes in the championship.

Until you see where he is in three years time you can’t actually say he’s been badly advised you couldn’t accuse klopp of not playing young kids who are good enough - that’s not been the case here under rodgers where youngsters weren’t considered physically able to compete.

Jimmy Posted 30 July 2023 Share Posted 30 July 2023 gotta wonder who's advising some of these lads, if he's as good as they say there is every chance that he'd break through this season now he will disappear into their system, how many lads that make these moves ever get into the first teams

I'd not be surprised if they aren't impressed with how Sammy didn't get any loan moves despite Rodgers publicly saying he would and at least one deal being lined up, nor was he given much 1st team exposure either at a time when we could have used him. He turned down the only loan offer he had at the start of last season. Not sure what else the club can do . He had vet little experience at that point and inly hsld a season of u21 foktball behind him. They can't force other clubs to loan out players. It's a big risk for smaller clubs and they have to be sure loans can make a difference although obviously you can never tell how they will pan out. Probably would have had other offers in Jan but he wss injured.

He was being lined up again for a loan but we opted to play him in a meaningless U21 game the day before deadline day and he did his ACL, if any deal was in the pipeline why on earth play him. Yes he rejected the one loan move on the table. Didn't want to commute or move away.

Adam Barradell stepped up from U16s to replace Andy Peake in the U18s. I've no real knowledge of his credentials but the U18s for a large chunk of 2021/22 were electric, but since the QF FA Youth Cup exit with the last kick of the game, we seem to have been pretty unimpressive. U21s have been muck for a long while, as harsh as that might sound its been badly run IMO. Apologies @Ric Flair I haven't been on here for months. There is a new coach incoming for the u13s I think. The u21s have new assistants. I think the quality of the coaching in general is excellent. I dont believe this to be any reason why x player doesn't reach their potential these days.

Molson Canadian Posted 2 August 2023 Share Posted 2 August 2023 Loosing Odunze is a disappointment. Already been called up to the USA Senior International squad on the bench at such a young age. He will develop and become a starter in the MLS, eventually making his way back to Europe in the future for sure. When he first joined us from the Vancouver Whitecaps academy he was the highest rated academy goalkeeper playing in Canada at that time and for a majority of the Academy teams in the MLS as a whole. Quite a few US goalkeepers over the years have come out of the MLS and had good careers in England and Europe.
