Ben Petty terrorist ball back in full swing then lol

Mhm. I do wish we'd do more with staff at the club, especially after investing so much in facilities.

Need to go out and be investing the "next Maresca" already to come in and coach the youth teams.

Actually work on developing young coaches as well as players. Go out and properly talent spot.

Yep! I bet we’ve got someone lurking who could do a better job now even temporarily!

I know it’s different but our u16 and below coaches are very highly regarded.

We’ve got a better functioning turf academy than our actual one. But of course it’s not that simple, we don’t know what actually goes, if only it was that simple, it’s not all down to one person, other clubs have bad coaches, the academy has been productive…

That was sort of the point I’m making above. We’re making good players. But they either go straight into the first team from U18 level or go out on loan. So it might be worth promoting some of the age group staff.

Our U21 set up is honking, but that’s probably also a symptom of how poor the format is. There’s no incentive not to loan your best talent out because the standard at 21 level is so poor

I mean in fairness we do, memes aside, surely have more of our own products getting minutes in the first team over the last decade than the majority of clubs in the top two tiers?

But for me I just think that's all the more reason to specialise even more, to step up even more to invest in that area.

Especially as its a major source of revenue as well as, looking to sell players on a la Chelsea and Co.

Villa reject starts then hooked at half time, Villa reject sent off last week. Big daddy Petty looks after his Villa boys. Fortunately with Maresca he seems like the sort of bloke who will voice his opinion on the academy and how its being managed as appose to Rodgers

Be harsh after two academy graduates have scored winners in the last 2 league games and out of our 7 league goals 5 have been scored by academy graduates.

Add to the 85m made on selling Barnes and Chilwell.

Coaching can't be all bad.

I suppose there is the question of timing - maresca hasn't been here that long, and people have contracts, it's not always possible to make such dramatic changes straight away.  Maybe maresca likes petty and wants to see what he can do?  We don't know, we just have to hope that something clicks or, if not, something changes...
