Women's World Cup 2023 - Australia/New Zealand

Weird one. Looked a penalty initially. Pretty much always a foul anywhere else. Then you see the replays and see that Daly made a meal of it, but think, there's no way they can overturn it, given the level of contact.

Just about to take it and then reviewed and overturned!? Would VAR have had enough time to overturn it if Nigeria hadn't have delayed it?

And what was the odd "it's contact, not a push" line?

Held and losing balance and then nudge in the back to push her over. Doesn’t matter that she made the most of it. It wasn’t a clear and obvious error.

Why weren’t some of the Nigerian players booked for hassling the ref.

When will refs use their current rules to keep the game ‘clean’

Personally don’t think it should have been a penalty, too many soft free kicks are given in the game for slight nudges or contact, players go down when they should have been stronger, if they stop getting the free kicks/penalties players will stay on their feet more.

Or if penalties were given for holding and pushing there’d be a lot less of it and probably more goals. It depends which way you want to go personally prefer a cleaner game.

That said England are being legally  physically outplayed
