Going to post the comments here as Twitter can throttle what people can read:

FIRST HALF

In the first half the Foxes operated out of a 4-3-3 system with a clear game plan to dominate the ball. When moving into an attacking phase they implemented a 3-2-4-1 (think Man City last season) where Ricardo joined the midfield alongside Harry Winks with the rest pushing on.

It was clear that Winks is going to be the man that this #LCFC team plays through. He sat at the base of the midfield and was very progressive in his passing. The passing range of Tielemans with the positional play of Mendy.

Coady was excellent, a real leader in the back line and his voice was heard consistent through the first half. He was also ordering the pressing from the front, once the ball went into a trigger area. City hunted in packs well and won the ball back in the final third a lot.

SECOND HALF

Again #LCFC operated out of the 4-3-3 and in attack were in the 3-2-4-1 but it was McAteer who joined the midfield and JJ who became the right winger. Very similar style of play as City dominated the ball.

Attacking wise, the Foxes looked better in the second half but still seemed to lack a final cutting edge ball or a spark of brilliance. A creative number 8 is definitely needed in the transfer window.

One interesting take away from the midfield is that both Soumare and Hamza were utilised as number 8s, with Choudhury hunting the ball with energy and Soumare trying to create. It was a partnership that worked relatively well.

Ricardo the inverted fullback CONFIRMED!

Some decent praise for KDH as well.

We're going to have another season of Ndidi and Soumare in midfield aren't we. Probably Faes at the back too.

The only saving grace of relegation was the thought of never having to watch the three of them again. It's killing my excitement for the new season.

Faes was nowhere near that bad, what are you on about? He got into the Belgium squad on the back of his performances. He had issues like everyone, but nowhere near the worst.

Not sure I can accept much being described as excellent in a pre-season game that we lost to lower league opposition.

You can have individual excellence but pisspoor team work.

Long way to before we see any sign of excellence re teamwork.

That's unfortunate. When learning a new system of play, the coach is going to more interested in if they understand that way of playing:

- Are the players match fit?

- Are they standing in the right positions when off the ball?

- Are they building attacks through the practised patterns of play?

Maresca in his first press conference literally said that the most important thing for him is to get the idea of how he wants us to play over to the team. That it will take time, but that's the most important thing and he wants to see progression among the team from game to game.

We could easily lose all of our pre-season friendlies, but still smash the league. I for one am excited to see how the new style works with our team.

Agreed, but these games are for fitness and getting the positioning and runs sorted

Wasn't he? He's one of the worst signings we've ever made.

Somehow too casual, yet rash at the same time...and watching him try to sprint after being caught out of position is painful.

Cutting back onto his left foot as well, don't think he's ever scored with his left for us before? Maybe a new thing, maybe he just remembered he has two feet?

Scored a lovely left footed goal against Newcastle a few years ago

Guest Kopfkino

Those line ups are a reminder of how much left there is to do this summer. 9 have gone and there’s still a lump of players there I hoped we’d never see again. Really grim look into the lack of options without Maddison and Barnes around.

Wish it was all happening a bit quicker. Boro did like 6 signings in a week.

We used 22 player with 6 missing and Doyle arriving.   There is still a need to ship players out.   Some of the 22 are fro  the academy and being looked at.

Vestergaard,  Praet, Castagne,  Barnes probably go.

Ndid and Iheanacho maybe go.

Presumably, we will still see 3, 4 or 5 in.   Hopefully that would include a creative midfielder and wide forwards.
