we haven’t lost anything as yet, as long as Maresca has a clear plan of what he wants and as long as the back room team are in place ready for pre season training.starting , then there is nothing to worry about. Also just because it’s not in the public domain doesn’t mean nothing is happening in the background or is already in place but just not announced. I am expecting a flurry of announcements from

the 1st July onwards.

That last sentence is what a lot of people were saying last year too… i’m very skeptical as its definitely feeling like lessons have not been learned and the mentality around the club is ‘too good to stay down’.

No but it's not even the end of June yet. Last year was different because it was Rodgers 4th year, he'd made statements about new signings and all the guff we already know about. He was established at the club. Maresca has been here less than a week and needs to talk to the remaining players to see what their intentions are - most are still on holiday - the scouts and coaches too to get their ideas and then to the recruitment team and Rudkin to piece it all together. If we're still in this situation in 4 weeks we'll all be far more nervous.

Theres a very good chance that in 4 weeks we’ll still be haggling over Maddisons departure which in turn will hold everything up.

Last year was the culmination of years of mismanagement behind the scenes and absolutely wasn’t a one off.

The reasons are debatable but the situation we ended up in WAS a one off - how many other times have we been prevented (for any reason!) from making player purchases in the last 10 years? None.

That is a very good point you make.  Whilst we obviously need to rinse as much as we can we must start our re-build urgently. At least get Praet and Castagne out sharpish and accept that we are most likely only going to get 45M for Madders.  If we do faff around for weeks on end awaiting  Duffkin to pull off master-stroke, we will most likely screw Enzo´s plans, which is a false economy as far LCFC is concerned.

Depends who else we have sold by that point, also depends on the status of negotiations - i'd guess the odds of us not selling maddison is sufficiently negligible that it is a case of if rather than when - ideally, sure, the sooner we sell the better, but it's not going to be like Fofana when we simply had to sell to buy, whilst knowing that a sale was not absolutely necessary due to his contract.

It all seems too slow to me.

Maddison needs to be sold, as does Barnes. They won’t want to play for long in the Championship.

And we need to be formulating the new squad. They need a proper pre season to gel and to get fit.
This all smacks of yet more heel dragging at the club.

If we go on to sell Nacho and Timmy too (is he still here?), I fear for us next season too tbh.

How hard can it be to plan without Madders and Barnes and Castagne, even if they happen to still be here in training 3 or 4 games into the season? ....'you fight the war you have, not the war you want'

We ain't gonna be spending anything anyways. Couple of loans and frees and that'll be it.

Really think we'll start to see a lot of pieces move towards the back end of next week and into the first week of pre season. Enzo and Glover need time to discuss the needs of the squad. Players will be getting back from breaks now (aside from the international boys) so you'd expect activity all over the place.

You cannot make clubs bid for our players and why should we give them away ?

it’s holiday season for players and it’s always quiet for prem until start of July - we should not give these players away worst case make em play in the championship - they won’t get away with shirking under Enzo and be pampered too ……

It can be very hard when the majority of the rebuild hinges on the funds received for those players. We didnt have a pot last summer until we sold Fofana and even then we only had 15m to spend. This summer our revenue is drastically less. We need quick movement.

Hoping the club would've learnt from last seasons Fofana debacle.

They dont look like they’ve learned a thing. Rudkin and Top marking their own homework whilst having a knees up at the races.

With how much our revenue has been cut we are still definitely in sell to buy territory.

I don't think we will be buying anybody tbh, or certainly not any that costs a significant amount.

Isn't that with all championship clubs? Do any of them ever actually buy anyone, isn't it just loans and free transfers?

Even loans and frees need wages covering and we still have a lot of work to do in that area. So for even loans and frees we need to sell.

The wages that we are already saving will comfortably cover incoming salaries.

The expense could be signing on fees for free transfers and loan fees to the loanees parent club.

This is what the KP FC fans are failing to realise. Same defences of Rudkin etc as last summer too.

If we had to wait until after the Champions League final for Maresca thats fine but what prevented us getting his backroom team lined up too? So we could pull the trigger quickly. Its the lack of being able to do things in parallel that really worries me. Every single day between now and preseason is important and we’ve essentially lost a week because of the races..

Wonder if Bournemouth have the same issues with Iraola's staff.
