Joel Piroe

Can't understand why he'd sign an extension. Whatever pay rise he's getting would surely be swallowed up by whatever signing on fee he'd get next summer.

they have added a release clause apparently, so maybe a way that he can get a Prem move in the summer if he has another good season, and Swansea get rewarded with a nice fee.

Joel Piroe is set to sign a new contract with Swansea City, according to Jordan Webber.

It has been claimed that a two-year extension has been agreed with the Dutchman, which would keep him with the Championship side until the summer of 2026.

Good for him.

Sultan of Brunei reads the Peckham Echo does he?

What a Moby.

Guessing it includes a release clause as a plain extension is just idiotic on his part.

saying Leeds value Piroe at £8m-£10mil in that article

also says we are still interested

Leeds United are working on a deal for Swansea City’s Joel Piroe amid mounting interest in the Dutch forward.

United have a long-standing interest in Piroe, who they targeted late on in last year’s summer transfer window, and value him in the region of £8million to £10m.

Piroe, who scored 19 goals in the Championship for Swansea last season and 22 the season before, is into the last 12 months of his contract with the club and has so far resisted their offer of a two-year extension.

He is increasingly likely to leave Swansea before next week’s transfer deadline and Leeds are one of several sides who are competing for his signature.

Southampton, whose boss Russell Martin worked with Piroe at Swansea, and Leicester City are other sides tracking him but Leeds are under pressure to make key additions to the squad at the end of a summer which has seen numerous departures from Elland Road.

A number nine is a major priority for manager Daniel Farke, who currently has Georginio Rutter as his only available centre forward.

Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph are recovering from injury and Farke wants a striker to come through the door before the window closes.

I still believe we will look to bring in Piroe and we will move on Daka and in the event we receive an acceptable offer for Iheanacho then I think we do the deal and likely bring in someone like Zeqri from Brighton who has recently been linked.

think that could be the way tbf, but we've got to make sure Piroe actually wants to come here. dont want to get rid of Daka and Kel and left sort upfront

What’s this ‘working on a deal’ bollocks?   You pay what they want and agree terms with the player. It’s not brain surgery.

Surely people can't be this niave?

Right. Shut up. Selling club wants X. Bit of haggling. Player wants X. Bit of haggling. The way they put it these days you’d think they were building the Fourth Bridge.  It’s a bloody transfer deal.

Payment structure, add ons, bonuses, agent fees, Contract length, sign on fees etc.... there are a 1000 things involved. Not to mention, you might not be the only club having these discussions for the same player with each deal being beneficial in different areas that I mentioned, bigger fee over a longer period of time for example.

No one is saying it's rocket science but it's also not as simple as you make it out to be.

My heart fuching bleeds. How do these things EVER get done?  The sweat and toil must be immense. I’m surprised anyone has the stamina to deal with such convoluted complexities. These pricks juggling millions so everyone gets their cut and then players ending up with more a week than many earn in a year. Ok, if you think they’re working hard then fine. We must just have a different opinion on what actual hard work is.

I can imagine the only reason why he has signed a contract extension is so that he can have a clause written into it, allowing him to leave if a  Premier league team offered for him
