It's not up to Stowell to see what's up, that's down to Rudkin, Top and co

It was up to him to not only see it but report it. He was a well-paid employee of long standing and at the very heart of what was going wrong, he had a moral duty to speak out.

Still say that is out dead ball specialist had bothered taking a competent penalty against Everton, we’d be playing Premier League football this season.

I watched it back yesterday and it was truly woeful. Disgusting in fact.

Could’ve gone in Barnes thread but it’s also related to Sadler

Former Leicester City caretaker manager Adam Sadler has revealed how he told Harvey Barnes all about Newcastle United before he completed his move to St James’ Park.

The coach, who hails from Tyneside, spent a total of nine years at City, becoming first team coach under Claude Puel in 2018. He worked in the same role under Brendan Rodgers and Dean Smith last season.

Before the appointment of Smith, Sadler, along with Mike Stowell, took caretaker charge of the club for two games. The coach departed the club this summer, as Enzo Maresca brought his own coaching staff in.

During his time at the club, Sadler worked closely with Barnes. The academy graduate completed a £38m move to Newcastle this weekend, with Sadler revealing previous chats he has had with Barnes about the Magpies.

"I spoke to Harvey about it," he told ChronicleLive. "Not particularly about him signing for Newcastle, but just how great that football club is. Every time we played Newcastle, especially away at St James' Park, I would always be talking to the players and staff about just what the football club means to the people."

The former coach also gave an insight into the extra work that Barnes did during his time at City in order to keep improving.

"Harvey always stayed behind for extras to work on his finishing, his dribbling, those little movements where he comes in off the line and shoots across the goalkeeper, aiming for that far corner," he added. "That's been constant and part of his make-up as a character. He was always looking to get better and improve.

"Also, the other thing with Harvey, he would always share his feelings with you. If you had any thoughts on his performance or his game or he wanted a little bit of help or support in some areas of his game, he would always want to look back at clips. It was that constant work to get better every day."

The Newcastle fan also joked about a message he sent the winger as his transfer was confirmed, saying: "I did say to Harvey the application has gone in for a season ticket now that he has signed for Newcastle United!"

While we’re sticking the boot in, how about during one of the games last year when a mate of Sadler’s said on live comms that he was glad Dean Smith came in because “he felt he was out of his depth”.

Absolute farce.

It’s down to everyone. Owners, the board, manager, coaching staff, players… all of them!

If everyone involved is just feeding each others ego’s and being oblivious to the obvious then guess what… relegation.

Agreed.   During last summer I was llooking forward to the coming season with trepidation - I could see the trend as being downhill.    I emailed the board in September saying we were on a completely downwards spiral and sleepwalking into relegation under Rodgers..  Clearly not one person in the club hierarchy saw that as a possibility until far too late.  Insane!!

Never mind, what's done is done.   Now that there has been a clear-out of our incompetent staff I approach this season with guarded optimism. :scarf:

Fair play to him for trying something new.

Hopefully he will recommend Ward to them!!

I know Stowell didn't pick the team, but surely as a goalkeeper coach he should have seen that Ward was more like a competition winner than a goalkeeper, and advised the manager of this, way before the loss of Kasper.

...what if Rodgers and Ward were tight, had a close relationship and had a hand in the hasty departure of Kasper to Nice!!!

It took 26 consecutive league matches for Rodgers to take him out of the firing line. If after 10 games Rodgers could not see that he could not make the grade, then that is on him, not Stowell.

We can all see the character of Rodgers, he is his own man, until things start to go wrong.

These Stowell quotes show an unbelievable level of delusion in our club under Rodgers. We were staring down relegation and they are on about making the top 8? What planet were they on?

The mad thing about that is that Rodgers was adamant that the aim was to stay up and try and hit 40pts.

Still, it's just one of those weird things isn't it. I'm fairly sure it's a positive anyway because there's absolutely no way that anyone at the club has under performed. We won the league, the FA cup and finished 5th remember.

The amount of bad luck we've had with all these totally aligned and highly performing people at the club is just ridiculously unfortunate.

Riddled with festering *****.

That whole backroom team were a bunch of self serving willy pullers.

But if they stepped out of line and became their own men they would of got sacked like Dave Rennie did by Bodgers.

They're in a difficult situation when they have to way up losing their jobs and salary to speak their mind or can carry on and suck up to him.

True, although Ward was here long before Rodgers arrived.  My point was that Ward wouldn't have got worse from the day he got here, he would always have been shite, so firstly you have to wonder who the hell scouted him and thought he would ever be good enough, made even worse that we somehow  thought he was worth 12 million!

Then you have to question Stowell, who having been working with him day in day out, couldn't see he was shite, and tell the then manager that he was shite, and wouldn't be able to be relied upon if needed.

So what I'm basically saying, is Ward should have been binned from the club long before Rodgers got here.

Either that or he was always shite hot in training!
