Northampton Pre Season Friendly Match Thread

Recommended Posts

The difference I can already see from last season is that when we do lose the ball, there is still adequate support to cover. Pereira lost the ball in the middle but we had defenders back.

Last season we were carved open so easily but it's like all bases have been covered.

Not to mention the higher and energetic press up the field if we do lose the ball.

Also easy to see that we do like quicker and slicker passing in the final third, instead of dallying on the ball in that area and letting opposition get back into position to defend.

One thing fans will have to get used to is taking our time building out from the back. I'd argue we take even longer to do it under Maresca than Puel or Rodgers. But it's for a reason, we are trying to rope-a-dope the attackers to come to us to make space behind them.

I will absolutely guarantee we hear a lot of frustration from this at the King Power for the first 6 months of the Maresca era.

Eventually fans will realise that when used in this way, it's the way we construct our attacks.

KDH could have a hell of a season in the Championship.

Good player who went backwards under Rodgers like so many others imo.

Only preseason vs Northampton but already looking and feeling a lot more positive than this time last year.

I owe an apology to Harry Winks, he always looked crap for Spurs and England. He's actually pretty good. He's a lot more than "neat and tidy." This system really suits him.

Just needs to get that playing for a trophy less club knocking out of him!!

I'm not sure, some fans will just be set in their ways if we're not 3-0 up with 15 minutes gone lol
