Spurs in Thailand

Pre season matches are usually pointless. We employ 50 footballers and have all the facilities to hold 90 minute matches internally. Everything you think you learn from friendlies  goes out of the window when the first competitive matches start. And then there is the injury risk. Get them back home double quick.

Whilst I agree with this.

What you don’t get with the internal matches, is increased ability and more of the unknown.

After playing with someone for so long, you know what they are going to do, so it’s easier to anticipate and defend against. You can’t do that if you’re playing Spurs, as you don’t see them every week.

The analytics team can’t prep for an internal game. They would have for an external game as well, so they get practice.

It also has the extra edge to it, as most of us will know. It’s not just “a training game”.

We all knew this tour was daft and reeked of a club in denial about potentially not being a Premier League club any longer.

But literally nobody mentioned that it was daft because it was monsoon season. And yet it was apparently so obvious as another reason not to do the tour. Sure lads, sure.

I mean our owner is literally from Thailand.

Blaming the Club for the weather is absolutely classic.   Life does go on in Asia during the rainy season. It is just unfortunate.

What about whining to the English Cricket Board for arranging Test matches in the summer??

I’d have faith in other clubs arranging a friendly at short notice but not us, we can negotiate one transfer at a time.

I hope we arrange a couple of friendlies after the first games of the season too to get more minutes for squad players.

Clearly not comparable and you know that.

it's more the point that they've engaged in crapshoot and they crapped out. another example of the shit decision making that has us now playing in the Champ
