im pretty sure if you rewatch the winks winner at WBA he can be seen sprinting passed players trying to catch up with HW and KDH.

He didn't play a single prem game for us last season absolute definition of mot being given a chance. Having been given a chance he is now showing how good he is. 

 

I don't understand why people are weighting him off without him having a chance to show how good he is in this system

For some reason, most of our fanbase thinks this, and I don't know why they do.

 

This team has gotten progressively better as the season has gone on. That's because the style takes a lot of practice and getting used to how each other player works inside the system. To quote the manager himself:
 

“We are nowhere near what we can be yet. We are happy with the way we’re playing but there are many things we can do better.

“We will be even better next year, if we can maintain the same squad.”

 

Why are we going to get rid of the player that has statistically been the best centre back in the division, and who is integral to the way we play? With that line of thinking, we might as well sell Harry Winks because he wasn't good enough to be part of the Spurs squad and had to go on loan to Sampdoria. These players are working right now in one of the most competitive divisions in world football in a team that is on for the record points total.

 

Whilst I am sure we will look to add depth in several positions, barring injuries or suspension, I fully expect Vestergaard to be starting as in the middle of the back 3 at the start of the 24/25 Premier League season for Leicester.

Good positioning…he knew goal was imminent,so wanted to

get the hot dogs and burgers before the celebrations…

very clever , foreseen  move in advance..

First burger ready just has Winks stuck it into the net,

Maresca’s double burger in his hands before start of changing room

 celebrations, ketchup and onionis were eaten and not spread over floor.:P

I skim read the last few pages and wanted a sensible take (thank you)

 

For me certain things are obvious

 

- He’s massively suited to our style of play

- He’s elite level distribution 

- He can (in spite of popular opinion) defend well…. He needs a set up that doesn’t expose him and he’s posted impressive defensive stats in other seasons and there is plenty of objective evidence from this season that he can time a tackle 

- Rodgers ball was just not his schtick (clear enough to anyone)

- He’s reaching his prime for an experienced CB

 

I don’t feel it’s a punt signing him up…. I’ll be delighted when it happens and will reassured when he lines up in the prem…. Bring it on

I don't think he was ever really fully match fit in the past for us.

Main reason for that was the hostility of our own supporters…..that’s why he didn’t get a chance…

Rodgers tried to press high though.

 

We then went and signed that great centre back to play this system in Harry Souttar. Bonkers to think really that Rodger’s played Amartey ahead of both Vestergaard and Soyuncu. 

 

Jokes aside, Vestergaard is great in our system. It would be a shame to lose him and I’d like to think he’s got another couple of years at the club.

Anything more than a year is idiotic by the club.

He has done well this season and his passing is brilliant. But, the premier league is completely different. He won't have the time to do what he does now.

If we go into the premier league season with Big yan and Wout as starters we will ship so many goals.

Yes. 

 

There are tectonic plates that move faster than Vestergaard.  But it's not just about straight line speed, its also about mobility, speed on the turn and speed of thought.  All of these things were exposed in the Premier League and would be again.  Yes, he can play and he can pass but he's not a good enough defender imo and gets away with it in a dominant team at this level.
