That's on Maresca today. Keeping him on when it was clear his head had gone from nutmegging himself, fluffing an open goal pass in to the net with his left foot to just getting disposessed over and over again is poor.

The lack of subs the last 2 games is pretty unexplainable.

Have to assume if we had Yunus fit and on the bench he probably would’ve come on.

I like him a lot, but he was a waste of a shirt today. Lucky not to be hooked at half time and criminal not to have taken him off after an hour. How we managed the whole game, I've no idea. He was woeful today

The only thing more criminal was Nacho getting 90. I'd have taken Nacho off after half an hour. Absolute ****ing lazy donkey display from him.

Not a lot. This is now where we get to see what Maresca is about. My gut says he'll double down on his vision, and the performances we've put in this side of the international break won't be viewed as a concern like they should be.

Teams have grown in confidence in how to play vs us. Sunderland and Leeds were very dangerous. Today wasn't an impressive performance by Middlesborough but they had confidence to press us, knowing that it's now not inevitable we break teams down eventually. We are very bit as bad at finishing as the teams we've mocked this season.

Warning signs are there that we could easily lose our way. This is where we get to see how good Maresca is.

He's got his limitations, I can accept that and knew he did from the off. His ability at this level should and largely is absolutely fine. What I struggle with is his mentality. I don't think he's got the bloody mindedness to play through bad games. His head had well and truly gone 2nd half. He was in bits, he didn't want the ball. He wasted so many promising openings and even a very brief open goal to roll the ball in to.

Maresca said they worked with him all the last international break and yet the last chunk of games he's looked less and less confident. I had hoped his deflected goal and assist vs QPR might have given him a boost. But from having a frustrating night vs Leeds where those around him possibly didn't help him in the positions he'd got in, to today, he looks shot.

If Maresca is as good as we think he is then it's players like Mavididi that he turns in to dynamite at this level. The jury is out.

I think the problem we’re having out wide is the fact that we don’t play with full backs helping them under lapping/over lapping, creating space or available to give a 1-2 etc.

This style of play is quite predictable and without doubt teams have worked out how best to play us, maybe since the Liverpool game.

That being said, we’re missing wilf or a decent number 8. Playing Casadei or Riccardo there isn’t the answer.

It's a very good point about the lack of support in those running on, it means there's so little space to open teams up. Relying on elite 1 v 1 dribbling to expose a team. Where have the cut backs in to the box gone? Again, not enough ability to move the opposition to create such opportunities.

Wasn’t there just thought the way Mavadidi played Enzo should have kept Kasey Mac on and hauled Mavadidi off to bring on Abdul didn’t manage to hear all of the game but to lose this way is criminal a hell of a lot of wasted chances, sides now seeing how Leeds dealt with us has hooked onto that and are now keeping us at bay has Enzo got a plan B if not he needs to get one we can’t keep passing 20 passes and getting nothing for it we need to try shooting fro distance rather than walking into the opposition box !

Think there’s an overreaction about Mavididi. He’s been a key part of our success this season. I thought he was ok against Leeds. Obviously today was an off day. It’s a fact to say we have less specialist rotation on the left wing, it’s not as easy to bring him in and out of the starting 11 (particularly with the versatile Akgun out.) He’s a dribbler, it’s a case of risk and reward - he simply can’t always win these battles.

With our number 8’s faltering and our centre forwards stuttering, our wingers have come under more pressure to be our creative outlets and have been targeted by opponents aware of this. The sooner these other creative areas step up, the more space will be available for Mavididi and his fellow wingers again. Hopefully the return to fitness of Ndidi, Praet, Akgun and Cannon will help Mavididi.

...he needs to pull into the half spaces, where he has a run at the defence and not starting from the touchline!!!

Sometimes you have to mix it up a bit, being too rigid makes you predictable. Switching wings would have been a good option, where they can supply with their better foot and you do not need several touches to do so.

Listening to Stevie Howard on commentary recons he did really well didn’t know why Enzo took him off?

He’s been good but thought he looked rusty today and gave the ball away and got caught on it numerous times . I won’t slate him he’s a young lad just starting out  and coming back from an injury

I agree but ultimately it is up to the lad whether he carries on putting performances like Saturday and becomes the next Soumare or he knuckles down and becomes the player we believe he can be. He has shown that he has it in him.
