Favourite players throughout your City years

Recommended Posts

Became a Leicester supporter in '98.

From that era -- Kasey Keller, Emile Heskey.

Missed out on almost all of the lower-league seasons -- found it difficult to actually watch matches in those days (from the US).

From 2014 on -- Jamie Vardy, Matty James, Wes Morgan, Robert Huth, Andy King, Kasper Schmeichel, Marc Albrighton.

Probably others, but my brain just quit working.

Started supporting them in 66 too.. Because of Gordon Banks!

.. Then Shilton was a big favourite...

Loved the late 60s early 70's sides.

Farrington, Glover, Weller, Sammels and of course Frank Worthington!!.. What an era.

Pontus Kamaark a big favorite a little later on.. What a player he was!!

15/16 side of course were just crazy.. Kante was just incredible.

All the names you mentioned were great.

30th anniversary as a Fox next year.

My heroes, for various reasons:

Iwan Roberts

Emile Heskey

Steve Claridge

Steve Walsh

Garry Parker

Muzzy Izzet

Matty Elliott

Gerry Taggart

Neil Lennon

Andy King

Kasper Schmeichel

Wes Morgan

Riyad Mahrez

Shinji Okazaki

Jamie Vardy

More or less identical list for me, 28 years since my first game at Filbert Street. I don’t remember much of Parker or Roberts as I was fairly young myself then. I’d probably add (from the fringes compared to the above):

Christian Fuchs

Marc Albrighton

Anthony Knockaert

Lloyd Dyer

Kasey Keller

I also always had a soft spots for Tony Cottee, Nuge, Paul Dickov, and especially Theo Zagorakis after this:

Working backwards present to past from their last appearance for us. So many legends in my years watching City. Big gap from Dickov to Kante which shows the dearth of quality during that period but may have missed one or two.

Vardy (GOAT)

Maddison

Tielemans

Schmeichel

Morgan

Fuchs

King

Mahrez

Huth

Kante

Dickov

Elliott

Izzet

Lennon

Walsh

Heskey

Joachim

Draper

Mauchlen

McAllister

Lynex

Lineker

Wallington

Worthington

Weller

Glover

Tommy Wright. Just loved watching him from the wall in the family enclosure terrace. Quick, direct, great delivery and goals. What a view from there, 3 yards from the players that hugged the touchline.

You can’t mention Tommy Wright and not mention Kevin Russell!

In order of my time following:

Cottee

Izzet

Dickov

Then, luckily, a massive blind spot I did well to miss, picking back up with...

Howard

King

(Lloyd) Dyer

Nugent

Wasilewski

Cambiasso

Huuuuuth

Albrighton

Vardy

Iheanacho

I think it says a lot that I haven't had a genuine 'favourite' join the club since not long after the title win. In fact, for the first time I've found myself actively disliking portions of our squad for the first time ever. Sums up the growing disconnect between the fanbase and the club that has happened over the past couple of years. Here's hoping this season can go some way to repairing that.

You can tell from my list that I don't expect players to be world class for us, just to show the commitment and dedication we expect. I'd rather ten Steve Howards than another Slimani.

Can remember Tommy Wright making his home debut and we all said he's got cool hair!.
