He was ok. He seems to be suffering from a lack of confidence for sure. Maybe we are expecting him to stand out a bit more because he’s come from a big club but it just seems like the games pass him by a little bit. Positionally he needs to improve but today he was steady I thought.

Not seen much ‘hate’. I’m not sure questioning his ability as a player is hate.  So far he has been very poor in almost all aspects of his game. Is he trying too hard? I postulated that earlier. Lack of confidence?  I don’t think anyone expects him to be the finished product, but I think they do expect him to look like he knows how to play and where to be - putting in the odd tackle and being a bit more robust might be good too. He’s a big lad.

Spot on. There is no 'hate' - it's just a trendy, overused word some people lazily substitute for 'criticism' because they want to sound indignant and righteous.

Do your eyes work mate?  Or do you just take Wiki’s as gospel?

You can see it. It is obvious. He’s not going to be a top talent, simple as that.

By implication you’re saying the Chelsea youth coaches, the Italian youth coaches and Enzo are also blind.

You’re also ignoring my point - a lot of football people see something in him, which on its own is no guarantee to success.

But with the sheer numbers involved at youth level, to get this far he must have shown a level of reasonable quality - and I’m happy to rely on their judgement over mine given I’ve not had the requisite viewing time to make a clear judgement myself.

I’d also suggest that by proxy, these coaches assessments that have resulted in the lad coming up through the youth system and competing for a position in a Premier League quality team puts in doubt your suggestion he’s not a natural footballer.

Indeed, if he’s not, he’s done well to become a learned footballer.

He’s not. I’ve seen enough to form that opinion. Can he do better?  I’d sure hope so.

He was ok by his normal standards, but he's not at the level we want. There's a noticeable drop between him and Ndidi.

Why would you even judge him against Ndidi’s level when Ndidi has had numerous seasons at the top level and is a full international.

It’s arguable even Ndidi himself shouldn’t be playing for us this season, that his ability could court a much higher level.

So why expect an understudy, that’s still learning the game and is with us to develop to show that level?

He's been a huge disappointment for me because I had such high expectations of him. He was the one player I was desperate for us to get in the summer. The Golden Boot and Golden Ball winner at the U20 World Cup suggested to me he was going to the top of the game and at 20yo he's not that young that he shouldn't boss the Championship. I think a lower end PL player at best will probably be his level at his peak.

Looking at previous winners of the Golden Ball and Golden Boot he's the 7th player in history to do it joining the likes of Messi, Aguero and Saviola but also these two both won it in 2009 and 2011 and had nondescript careers so perhaps shining at the U20 World Cup is not a guarantee of quality.

The biggest difference for me today was his decision-making. In the past, Casadei has looked lost out on the pitch. Today he played several forward passes first or second time into great areas to give opportunities to others. He found Cannon a few times for example. His assist showed he can play a first time ball into a dangerous area.

His touch still worries me a bit. There was a moment where he picked up the ball, spun and then drove forwards imperiously. And then... a clumsy touch and the move was over. For him to get to the next level, at that moment of the move he needs to pick the right pass and execute it. He’s been guilty of that type of thing far too often in his time here so far.

I have a feeling he might be with us again on loan next season, but he'd have to have a lot more appearances of this quality to achieve that.

I certainly wish I’d have learned to be a footballer as well as he has! 😂
