Leicester City Football Club can confirm that defender Luke Thomas will spend the 2023/24 season with Sheffield United, subject to league approval.

 

- Luke Thomas switches to Sheffield United on loan
- Defender moves to Bramall Lane until the end of the season

 

The 22-year-old left-back, who has progressed through the ranks of Leicester City’s Academy system, joins Paul Heckingbottom’s team on loan until the end of the campaign.

 

Thomas has made 85 appearances for the Foxes since his debut in July 2020, which came against the Blades at King Power Stadium, and was also part of the side that lifted the 2021 FA Cup at Wembley.

 

The Blades are next in Premier League action at home to Everton on Saturday 2 September (12:30pm BST kick-off).

Any reason why they need to be left footed? Justin played their most of his career and has quite frankly shown far more than Luke ever has in that position.

He's a limited left back, can't attack particularly well and gets caught out at the back (he's young granted). He doesn't fit in the system we play, we save some money and if by some miracle he performs well, we get a pretty penny from a premier league club for him. It's good for all involved.

Good luck to the lad. No real complaints about his attitude and seems a really good lad, but I just don't see him fitting into Enzo's system and he's looked very limited at Premier League level. A bit of a weird one from Sheffield United tbh.

 

I would expect more defensive cover before tomorrow night now.

best of luck to the lad but this shows how utterly bonkers our situation is - he cant get a sniff of our match day squad and has been absolutely and completely pony for last 2 years and he is going out on loan to the Prem- mental
