He’s the new (miles better) Knockaert figure that we haven’t had for ages. Mad as a box of frogs, tricky, left footed, gets you on the edge of your seat and is loved by the fans and players.

Think you are a little quick of the mark with that one, Knockaert at Championship level played 88 games for the club, scoring 13 goals and 13 assists, goal contribution (Goal/Assistevery) every 3.38 games. In he's worse season stats wise he got 12 goal contribution.

Fatawua has had a good start can beat a man and looks a dangerous but need to bring more goals and assists.

He has the potential to be better would be more appropriate.

Awesome segment on Fatawu on Football Daily today. If my link doesn't do it, go to 29:37 for his breakdown.

Some very interesting takeaways:

  • His passes into the box per 90 (2.5) are at "elite" levels (Trent Alexander-Arnold, Odegaard)
  • Wins the ball back at Sadio Mane levels
  • Completing 3.5 dribbles a game with over 50% success.
  • Carries the ball into the box 2.5 times a game. (Also elite)

To summarise, his underlying numbers are already exciting and on paper he has elite level potential.

think he just needs the right kind of striker in front of him and we'll be cooking, someone in that Benzema mould

It’s really exciting to have such attacking wingers having spent years it seems struggling to find at least 1.

Lookman was decent but now we have Fatawu and Mavididi, who play with flair plus Mcateer who has come on leaps and bounds this season, and then there is Akgun whom I feel will grow in confidence and will be really useful as the season progresses.
Exciting players and exciting times!

Our fans certainly are special

...only just noticed the "handle" that he uses, does he see himself as a 10!!!

I wonder if he played as an #8 he would be more prolific goal-wise? He is struggling to create chances and opportunities for himself and the team, where at least one instance in a game he would put in an effort that required a save from the keeper.

His age is brought up as a reason not to expect a fully developed player, but addressing his play in the final third would improve him so much. It is the biggest increase in a player you can make, without having to breakdown his whole game.

Demarai Gray just never kicked on, you would have thought that he would but he still does the same things that he has always done and wonders why he is not more successful. Some players just plateau, we can't sit back and hope he gets it, he needs to address this right now. getting into the position is the easy bit, irrespective of the piece of skill that got him there, the hard bit, is the lay-off to a colleague or the shot at goal, once he has made the opening for himself.

For me,it’s been amazing, after such a short time both he & Mavidid, have been taken into the hearts of the terraces AND

FT forum..

Its like back in my old days,we were easily ready to trust, our wingers if not always perfect, but give us each game a few momentoes of their magic. It’s not just blind head down ,run & dribble, cross to where no one, will ever be..( mishits excepted)

They go that step further and will run across the channels not just through/down  them…

Importantly..so far, they are actually seriously good dribblers, All wingers that have ever been, have to work on that delivery,

Albrighton,is still one of the best crossers…Doesn’t matter,it’s the pressure they put on oppos Backline, plus I don’t think we can be disappointed in their defending skills, will to give all to get back..& both have pace that deceives.

Fatawu is willing to lean to a cheeky piece of play, alone or with teammate, both have good imagination…

If there is any wonder, again from both..ONLY 13 games, and not all full games, the other side of Xmas,we are going to see

the those real special games & moments from them..

PL…there will be an Henderson,Rice, FB,that will be waiting to attempt to take them out…Nothing wrong in that, but can they ride it,like a Ronaldo would..

If anything,in any of our short past doubtful games ,these 2 throw down some interesting crowd pleasing moments, and goal threats better in a different way to Nacho,/ Vardy..

Disappointing second half from him as he seemed to refuse to take his man on despite clearly having the better of him in the first. Thought overall his decision making was fairly poor tonight, not that anyone's was particularly good

I said after the last match it seems he’s told to cut inside and make a pass or switch the play. He needs to be let off the leash

Do you not remember Mahrez, He was a bit special too.  Fatawu just needs to improve his final ball.

Probably the first time he’s had to play all 90+ mins?

good overall but would have liked him to go on the outside to the byline more

Often excellent and threatening but the quality of his end product tailed off despite remaining a real danger one-on-one. Probably could've done with McAteer coming on for him for the final 15-20 really.

His end product was a little hit and miss in the 2nd half, but he still created 2 big opportunities …

- beat his man and hung the ball up to the back

post for KDH’s header (our only effort on target).

- drove his man into the box and did a great square ball to Nacho who hit the defender with his shot.
