The "do they mean us?" thread pt 4

Palace were promoted the season before us and have gone: 11, 10, 15, 14, 11, 12, 14, 14, 12, 11 in the league, plus a single FA Cup semi final.

I’ve always thought this about Palace. So unbelievably dull. I think 17/18 & 18/19 are the only “boring” seasons we had since 13/14

Wasn't there a thing where for like 15 years Cov hadn't finished in the top 6 of any league lol.

Supporting some clubs is just consistently either miserable or dull as all fvck.

Supporting Leicester hasn't been boring my entire life tbh

Talking about Cov, I saw a stat that pretty much was. They was close to promotion last year winning 18 games in the season not including the play offs. We have already won the amount of games they did in the league last year :appl:

I think it was something like 25years hovering around the bottom of the PL/Top Tier.

There were the Levein and Rob Kelly years...  Probably the darkest most boring time in my years supporting city.

I’d say it goes back further, the last 30 odd years, I can’t think of many seasons we haven’t either been challenging for something or fighting to stay up. Relegations, promotions, cup runs… more trips to Wembley than many clubs have ever seen.

A few highlights since 1990:

Tony James 1-0

Come back against Swindon to lose it again

Silence of the rams

Other than the 2004 - 2007 years, it’s been one hell of a roller coaster, with something happening every season since 1990

**** me, I briefly forgot about Sven's reign. What a mental time that was.

I know it seemed like eternity at the time but it was essentially only three seasons and it was sandwiched by Promotion, Relegation, Promotion the years before and Relegation, Promotion, Play Offs the years after.

They got to 15/16 FA Cup final, too. But get your point, must be galling for them for Brighton to come up and overtake them

I have little sympathy for them. Parish annoyed me when the super club stuff was going on, basically admitting he was just happy to take the scraps left over from the big 6 table.

I think it was more like 30. They finished 6th in the First Division in the 1970s, became a midtable side and eventually got relegated in 2001 and then did the same in the Championship for about 15 years.

Cannot recall, but has Courtois always been a bit of a dick? Guess playing for arguably the biggest club in the world will do that too you

100%. Pure arrogance and has made a number of comments similar to the recent one's about Leicester players.

Also did the dirty with KDB's mrs - absolute wrong'un.

Is he wrong though? Pretty much the whole fanbase felt that certain players threw in the towel last season. Not just the Belgian players, but alot of the squad lacked any fight to survive the drop.

Not necessarily but it does not mean he isn’t a dick. Rodgers was here though.

Says a lot about them that even their team mates think they chucked it in. Makes you wonder what they were talking about to each other when they were away on these international trips.

Personally think Courtois is absolutely spot on to call them out. Even if he is generally a bit of a twat.

On the topic of stagnant football clubs, then you have to go some to beat Rochdale.Their fans deserve maximum respect.I think the old Gainsborough Trinity had a tremendous record of never being relegated,at least right up to the end.On the other hand I don’t think they got promoted much either.

Any Leicester fan that was born in the mid to late Seventies, who couldn’t remember the Milne 82/83 promotion push, would go deep into their teens thinking that supporting Leicester was just one long relegation battle.I had gone through the education system and was in paid work before I witnessed a Leicester team higher than 9th at any time during the season proper. With not much joy in the cup competitions either.

I'm guessing you're too young to remember David Pleat and Peter Taylor :nono:

Taylor wasn’t near as dull as the 1-0 losses or 0-0s we seemed to get at home every week mid 00s. My memory of Taylor was we created quite a lot but missed (and conceded) loads of chances, particularly Akinbyi. Remember one Liverpool game we lost 4-1 but actually created loads with our £5.5m signing missing about four absolute sitters.

There’s no doubt that since the mid 90’s, pound for pound, we’ve achieved more than any other British club.

Absolutely mad 25+years.

Even more bonkers when you consider what a joke we were from 05-10

We weren’t a joke between 2008-2010!
