I’m pretty sure Sky said they got it wrong and the yellow shown when Winks committed the foul was actually to Hwang because he asked for a yellow.

I remember Steve Claridge scoring for Millwall in a game we otherwise won 4-1 and the whole ground applauded when it was announced Claridge scored. It was a great moment. Of course we want to win first and foremost, but there’s nothing wrong with wanting to see a player like King or a manager like Pearson doing well. There’s more to supporting a football club than just obsessively caring about winning by as big a margin as possible and nothing else, having a connection with certain players or managers is a big part of the community and social aspect of the game. That’s not how I remember it, we may have won 4-1 but that Claridge goal put them 1-0 up. Add to that the animosity towards Dennis Wise that day and the way he celebrated the goal there was certainly no great moment. 1

Lillehamring Posted 21 September 2023 Posted 21 September 2023 I think we might see a couple of surprises in the squad - bristol like to sit deep and counter , lots of crosses and set pieces - so i wouldn't be surprised if it's something like ndidi and casedai as the 8's and maybe even something like ricardo/faes/vestergaard/justin at the back. Or.... He won't set up to nullify their threat at all, but rather go super creative to simply break down their rear guard. Given that this approach backfired against Hull, will he learn his lesson or will he trust the players to take their chances? Either way, can't see this being the game for daka to come in, if that happens it's much more likely to be against liverpool, where will be ping balls into the gap....
Jobyfox Posted 21 September 2023 Posted 21 September 2023 After the side he picked midweek I wouldn’t want to second guess who’ll be playing in this one. I’m expecting 5 or 6 changes 1

Teams I have been keeping a close eye on are Southampton, Leeds, Ipswich, Norwich, Sunderland and Coventry. There are so many teams in the league and games are so frequent, it's really hard to keep up with everything. Preston are top, have made one of the best starts in Championship history, and I think I can name 3 of their players at best! Are they amazing or lucky? I have no idea! I've seen Ipswich play a few times, they are quite good. My immediate reaction from the highlights I watched yesterday was Bristol City are mightly impressive on the wings. Sykes in particular standing out. Play a high line in defence I hate to be that guy but Preston’s run of fixtures has been incredibly kind including their game v Rotherham. Popular Post StriderHiryu Posted 22 September 2023 Popular Post Posted 22 September 2023 Leicester City vs Bristol City Pre-Match: The return of Big Nige! What can we look forward to in the match on Saturday? Here's a quick preview of the game. ^ Their record so far. Their possession has bounced around from domination to dominated, but the thing that stands out for me is that they have won the xG battle in all but two games, often times quite comfortably. That's the sort of underlying data that is indicative of a very good team. FYI, Leicester were similar in that earlier in the season we were winning, but the data showed we were getting lucky, though this has shifted since the Rotherham game. Bristol City have the 3rd best defence in the league, though haven't scored that many goals. However, the xG suggests they were a bit unlucky in that department, so the recent 4-1 pasting of Plymouth was probably overdue: ^ An impressive performance here, is that Matty James or Cesc Fabregas in the middle for them?! ^ This was a cup game so plenty of changes for both teams, but a close game and Bristol looked good going forwards in this one with some nice moves. Perhaps a bit suspect defensively in this one. ^ Here are the average pitch positions for Plymouth on the left and Norwich in the middle and Hull on the right. We can see they are play a 4231 with the full backs pushing high up the pitch to create the width. Matty James is at the heart of everything they do, pulling the strings in the middle of the park. They press up top and play a high line. The Hull game is very interesting. They only had 39% possession, but had an xG of 3.6 and if you look at their average pitch position, were higher up than in some games where they had 60% possession! Strengths Very organised and well-drilled A very strong defence. I don't think we will get a gifted goal like Southampton were dishing out. Fluid passing between the lines and comfortable in possession. Proven manager with great pedigree as this level Weaknesses Seem vulnerable on the transition. Gaps behind the full backs if they turn over the ball Midfielders are slow Seem a bit wasteful up front, needing more chances to score than they would ideally like Summary They are a good team, in good form, so will present a challenge. I don't think they have a single player that would get into our starting XI, so the quality difference should massively favour us. A lot of teams this season have dared to play man-to-man against us, but I'm not sure if they will, just because I feel it would be a mistake given their slower midfielders and it didn't work out too well for Norwich. Against Hull despite not having possession, they still played their game and had a go at them, so I think we will see them try to do the same here. I'd have us down as favourites, but I have us down as favourites against everyone in the division, home or away. We have the best squad and, recently, the best underlying metrics too. But anything can happen on the day, as we found out against Hull! We have Liverpool away midweek, so we might rotate some players with that game in mind, OR we might play our weaker team against Liverpool. 3 3

Pressing us on the front foot with a high line is a risky game, just because it's what you "normally" do it doesn't mean it's what you'll do against us. We actively want you to come up the pitch and try and win the ball off Hermansen, Vestergaard and Winks, that's precisely when we can draw you out, beat the press and set our forwards away. We've by far and away struggled the most this season when teams have sat in a stubborn low block and forced us to unpick them. We might have better players than most of the league we still aren't ACTUALLY Man City, we don't have genius creative players all across the final third who are going to rip you apart in your box. We're still quite reliant on turning teams over with our pace. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Pearson has your line of engagement much lower on Saturday and if your average positions per player are much deeper. 5

I didn't say anything about sentiment. I've got sentiment for Pearson and King especially, but I don't want to see us concede a goal or lose because of it. Jeez we're here this season with one aim and that's to go back up as quickly as possible. I was at that Millwall game, no away fans. I remember Claridge apologising. Can't remember the whole ground applauding though, might have to watch my season review DVD back later to see if that was true. I don't think going behind in a game is "a great moment" regardless of who scored. 3
