The Enzo Thread

Yeah, that’s my cynical take on it. I liked Enzo but the way Romano has reported things made it seem like he had little to no loyalty to the club. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he had reservations, and the likes of Balague who he’s close to have recently highlighted what a basket case of a club Chelsea is. He must surely have some doubts, despite the money and contract length.

It's hard to accept but ultimately true that money/ power/ambition override virtually all loyalty.

Self interest in todays world trumps old fashioned notions such as "one club man".

Enzo has zero loyalty to us and that's not a criticism of him, if he does well at Chelsea or another rich club, and Real or Barca come knocking he like any ambitious person will also have zero loyalty to them.

Again it's difficult to accept but we are basically a feeder club for bigger (wealthier) clubs, players and coaches who do well here will leave for the dream of glory, the lure of fame and the certainty of a vast fortune, or the club has to sell to survive.

(One of the many reasons JV is so loved is his rare resistance to two of the the above - he has vast fortune compared to most)

The field was never level and frankly it's tipping towards the haves more every year, they control the money and therefore they design the rules to benefit themselves.

Fair competition is sadly a thing of the past in the EPL.

l think we have to go along with the fantasy of fairness and fool ourselves into believing success for us and most others  is anything other than watching our team play and hoping for the occasional win against the greedy 6 - if we want to enjoy it.

Shame there wasn't a swap with Poch to be had, plus a few £mn our way and that would have still saved Chelsea a lot of money while given us a manager where we could lose in an exciting manner.

That my friend is called denial. Guillaume twathead has already posted his twitter video explaining that its all Leicesters fault and Enzo is the football messiah who will bring energetic attacking football to Chelsea.

Its done, he's gone, it's just final contract shizzle to sort out.

Time to worry about who we might appoint. Wouldn't put it past our lot to get in Naythan Jones.

i thought the video was a conflicted mess, but Balague said clearly it was not Leicester's fault. He said Enzo was annoyed by the financial issues but they weren't the reasons he left. So let's stop reporting things incorrectly.

He said Enzo believes he belongs with the elite, and has joined a Big 6 club accordingly.

It just makes Balague look like a hypocrite given he was just last week on national radio talking about what a mess Chelsea are.

And then he talks about Enzo getting stability there

Just a little thing standing in the way of that, called reality.

Chelsea talks with Maresca progressing well

Latest from Sky Sports News chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol:

Chelsea's talks with Enzo Maresca are progressing well, with a club delegation currently in Marbella for meetings with the Leicester boss.

Maresca is excited about the prospect of becoming Chelsea head coach but wants to make sure everything is done in the right way and that Leicester receive the respect they deserve.

He is grateful to the Leicester owners for giving him the opportunity to manage the club and if he leaves, he wants to make sure he maintains good relations.

The details of any potential move still need to be agreed - compensation, personal terms, and the make-up of backroom staff who could move with Maresca.

The process is still likely to take a few days to be completed.

KP are desperately fighting for our future. A big points deduction clearly wouldn't have been lost on Enzo and if reports are true we're talking 6 minimum. If our best players follow and loans/payments hanging round our necks it's a pretty depressing return to the Championship and this time with greater fears.

I wish he would have stayed, but im glad this has been sorted now to give us ample time to get a new manager in and for him to get a few players in.

You just cant begrudge him a move to Chelsea.
