How are we getting on, compared to previous Championship winners.

Ipswich and Preston's form has taken the gloss off of quite how well we're actually doing. It's distorted things. Preston being only 3rd with that points tally is remarkable.

And yet they could be 7 points behind us come weds night. That's some gap on the rest already if we can carry our form through the rest of the month we could have a decent margin for error already.

Honestly, we should be beating that. This is a Premier League team in all but name. We have at least 4 starters that would 100% start every week for midtable clubs in the Premier League in Ricardo, Ndidi, KDH and Winks. Possibly Iheanacho, Hermansen, Vestergaard and Mavididi would too. It's frankly unfair for the rest of the division, and it says it all that many of us think that Blackburn were the best team we've played so far, we didn't play that well, and we've still come away 4-1 winners.

We shouldn't take anything for granted, and the mental side is the biggest battle because it's easy for complacency to set it. But in terms of player level, we've got a team that is disproportionally stronger than anyone other than maybe Leeds.

I dare you..!! How very very dare you..

Miss out

Mr Leicester,Red Bulls Steptoe!

He'd play most games, then a kick about with his kids, and a Sunday league game, just for the instruction on shithousery..before & after attending Foxes game....:yesyes:

Wednesday is a massive game.

I’ll update the table again on Thursday at some point.

Not just Wednesday, Saturday as well. We win the next two, Preston and Ipswich meet this weekend as well, the gap to 3rd could be quite something this early on depending on what the rest do

Has any team ever  been relegated after a start, like Leicester's.

Relegated from the Championship?

Or relegated back from the Premier League once promoted?

Would love to beat readings total of 106 which lets face it was bloody brilliant. Then there was the best championship team ever in wolves who got 99 points which Sky seemed to think makes them the best of the best so beat that and we may settle for second best!

was that wolves side really better than our 2013/14 season? we had schmeichel , prime vardy, mahrez, knockaert, morgan & drinkwater. finished with more points too

Not if you take into account with what happened in 15/16.

That Wolves side was okay. I don’t think they’re as good as Fulham a fews ago, or the Newcastle team that were in a similar situation to us now.

This squad walks this league by Valentine’s Day,
Mathematically impossible unless someone else can provide numbers to the contrary. So many games to play after February 14th, you can’t be officially promoted anywhere like that early. If Easter falls on the late side, you start to see particularly dominant sides just about starting to wrap up promotion at that point with two games quickly over the weekend.

Biggest concern is boredom and keeping concentration levels high

Disagree. Biggest concern is injuries. A couple of long term injuries in positions we don’t have as much depth could really stall us. Not to the point of throwing away promotion as we have the January window, but could be a leveller.

It may be mathematically impossible to be officially promoted by Valentine’s Day.It’s not impossible to have gained the required points total by that stage.Plus 85 points has got teams promoted in past seasons. If you want official promotion than I’ll go with Easter even if it’s early next year.

Of course points are going to be dropped along the way,and there will still be work to do by March end.Vardy Ricky P and Winks will all breakdown at some point. So will key players of our rivals. There is more than enough cover and experienced heads in the dressing room.

Relax.Leicester are going back up.I genuinely thought they would make a pigs ear of it.

This sort of proves my point on the last page though. Top of the league there are on 17 points. This season Preston in 3rd are on 20. We're on 24, Ipswich 22 (from 9, obviously now they've won again).

Ipswich's form, 25 points from their opening 10 for a newly promoted side is frankly astonishing. Nothing but respect for McKenna.

From memory Notts Cpunty hold the record by winning Div 3 (lge 2) at the end of March in 1998. I had a bet on them at the start of that season.

I’m not doubting we will be comfortable and in a very strong position. I just don’t get why the obsession with trying to claim when things will happen. Best case scenario, we meet these expectations and it was expected by some. More likely, we won’t get there as early as the unrealistic and unfair expectations being put on the manager and players and many fans end up disappointed if we ‘only win the league once we get into April’.

All I’m saying is just enjoy game by game, and watch hopefully another record breaking season unfold in front of us.

Out of interest, I have looked at the two times of the year highlighted, Valentine’s Day and Easter.

Valentines Day

13 games to play after plus 3 points we have dropped is a maximum of 96 points we would be on if we won every game. We will be held to draws here and there and every now and then, we will get Hull’d. 85 points by then is unfair to expect. Personally I’ll be happy if we have a health lead and are still watching enjoyable football each week.

Easter

This is more likely. 6 games to play and 18 points left. Absolute maximum of 117 we could have. If we carry on as we are, we could be looking at Promotion with a few games to spare.

Another factor is ho me AFCON affects us compared to our competitors. I’d expect without looking it up, it will significantly more. However, hopefully we have a plan for that and any longer injuries once we get to January.

No but because of them getting Neves and Nuno they hyped them up massively. Saying that Kasper, Vardy and Mahrez were still unknown in 2013/14!

If we carry on at this rate, we'll be on for 124 points!

I’ll be honest,I’ve fallen out of love a bit with the upper echelons of football.Much prefer the non league scene these days.So if Leicester don’t get promoted, let alone by Valentine’s Day.Then I won’t be too bothered.either way.So no expectations or pressure put on anybody from this end.

I’m just saying it as I see it.Leicester will piss this league.and if they don’t,they will come second which is all they need to do.

Strength in depth will probably see them fade.

A couple of injuries to key players and they'll fall away.

We'll also go through some tough patches though.

No chance. They've done brilliantly so far, but they'll fade away at some point due to loss of form/injuries/lack of depth. We'll finish above them by at least 10/15 points.
