Cannon will surely go out on loan. If we don’t get in a first choice striker then we are idiots.

We definitely could use a striker. Sure.

But **** we NEED midfielders.

A CAM and ST should be top priority by the Spurs game.

Fail to do that, then this needs to happen at Seagrave...

If he goes on loan then yeah I'd agree but times a ticking and that would have to be sorted in mind for anyone we look at. Personally I can't understand the Cannon signing if he won't get gametime, feels like he joined us for 1st team football cause never playing for your parent club and just going on loan would surely have been the reason he left Everton? Now we're doing it to him!

I'm suprised Cooper isn't interested in any of his old players at Forest. Usually,  when a manager goes to a new club, he likes to take one or two of his former players.

There must be a couple out of the 300 plus players he had there that he would be interested in.

We have a month left, he’s been linked with a few Championship clubs, I’d expect some movement in the next couple of weeks hopefully. Maybe we saw Cannon as someone who had success in the Championship in the past, with maybe a long term outlook too. It’s a negative outlook, but if we get relegated again, at least we’d have someone who can do it at Championship level.

I'd argue we really want two pretty decent 8/10 capable players.

It'll never happen but two of O'Riley, Hamer, Hatate and Sara would be cracking.

I'm still delusional enough to hope we'll eventually end up back playing a similar shape midfield to last year though, it was so perfect. I know I have to let it go but I can dream.

Something like this in possession would immediately rekindle my enthusiasm for the upcoming season regardless of people's doubts about the striker situation.

Vardy

Mavididi, Sara, Hamer, Fatawu

Winks, Ricardo

JJ, Vestergaard, Faes

Hermansen

That’s the thing Finners, if we continue with a similar setup as we’ve seen in Pre Season, getting in two 8/10 would look extremely unlikely.

When it comes to a potential attacking midfielder, if the idea is to setup like we saw with Ndidi against Palermo, then it needs to be someone of the profile who is not only creative, but they must have the ability to press and win the ball high up the pitch.

I’m very much on the fence with my enthusiasm for this season, whoever we get in for the CAM and ST roles will make or break us imo.

Daka got a contract until 2026, no doubt he'd still play over Cannon if we were to get relegated :D

Incoming 30m bid for Rhian Brewster.

The spurs game is on the 19th Aug, ideally you’d want the players in at least 2 weeks before. Pull your finger out Leicester for ****s sake.

I think Cooper sounded frustrated about lack of activity on the last interview and that was a week ago.

Of players to play over 1,000 mins in the Championship last season, Daka was 1st for expected goals per90

And second only to Vardy for goals and assists per 90 minutes.

Seems like every manager we've had recently has hinted at this in one way or another.

No mate, just for the Championship 👍🏻

Oh sorry, just seen the Xs. Was gonna say, that's not correct.

Actuals are something like 1.03 and 0.99 respectively.

They could be on big wages.

They could be too expensive.

They may not be what we need or that Forest don't want to sell...

They also clearly weren't his signings. I doubt he even wanted many of them.

Marseille bidding £17m for Nketiah. If Arsenal would take that then we could do a lot worse.

I can't be the only one that thinks he's extremely average? Also can't believe he's 25 already. Christ. Thought he was younger than Nelson.

Do we want a 10?

I'm not sure we do tbh. Right now it's difficult to know what we should be looking at in the market because we don't know how Cooper wants to play yet, but I said it before when we had Maddison is that I'd like us to move away from a specific 10 role, not because I don't like it but I think it's a specialist role (if they're any good at it) that means if they're out injured, you're fxxked.  When Maddison was out the lack of creativity in our side was plain to see.  If we have 3 cm midfielders in the mould of say Sara at Norwich you have players who can do every job required in the midfield, if you've got an injury another 8 steps in. Ok, it's not foolproof, and people will still claim you lack creativity from the middle, but if you get the recruitment right you get players who can create on occasion. For that to work though you need a lot of output from your wide men, both wingers and fullbacks need to be getting in and around the box.  We basically need 2 prime Ricardos, and we've only got half of one.

Maybe a 10 is the quicker fix.

Shit.
