Yes it does. The criticism in the first half was ridiculous and blinkered. The MDT failed to understand that this is a game of 90 minutes and you approach it as such. The quality and depth in squad is always going to win out against any team that isn’t running at 110%. Pissing and moaning in the first half displays an abject lack of understanding of strategy and willingness to be patient. The whines were over the top and akin to children bitching about a lack of pudding options in a pub with a play pit. 

This is just nonsense, there is nothing blinkered about it, we played really poorly in the first half, gave them too long to organise themselves and made no effort to "tire them out" as many were claiming, they were sitting back and just mopping up our slow negative passes across the back line. PNE barely moved in the first half and we gifted them 45 minutes, if we had taken a few more chances and tried to make more aggressive passes we would have maybe lost possession but we would then have forced them to come forward and open up the space for us.

Again, everyone that I saw complaining about the tempo fully understood the strategy, we all knew PNE were going to park the bus, but we also all knew that passing around aimlessly at the back 4 was never going to produce a chance for us, and did nothing to tire them out. The only time the game opened up was when we moved the ball quickly and pulled them out of position. Very surprising to see you coming off in this way, as if anyone who thinks the first half was needlessly slow doesnt "get it" but anyone who is happy with it is somehow tactically more knowledgeable. Most of us that were unhappy with the first half were happy with the style of play, but unhappy with the lack of tempo as it was achieving nothing.

To carry on the chat at the end of the game thread, with what this is showing good coaching can do with our squad, it goes to show just how bad Rodgers was. Bear in mind as well we lost a host of better quality players as well in the summer. Someone said sabotage but it was probably more just sheer incompetence plus too much self preservation.

 

We should not have been near relegation with the squad we had.

 

(Some people complain about parachute payments. But in our case we do have a good team and we deserve to get out of here. Look at Southampton and Leeds - they are not doing as well as we are so it is not just about parachute payments.)

Fair enough I agree with you lol can we agree on that for me too? lol Also if i'm coming across in any sort of aggressive way it's not meant like that, we've both been on here a long time so it's all opinions!

Last season I couldn’t be arsed to even watch us play, Rodgers and the players (mostly Rodgers) had sucked all the enjoyment out of the sport.

 

Now I don’t want games to end & constantly looking forward to the next fixture

Golf day today,  so only got back to see the last 30 minutes, but wow! Thought that was as good as we’ve played. The transformation Enzo has overseen is fabulous and was summed up for me in the 92nd minute. The game was over. Faes slipped but still, from the floor, slid in head first whilst on the deck, to try and win it back. We all know that spirit wasn’t there last season. Delighted it’s back, now.  👏
