Is he? I'd say Coady is a better defender and organiser  IMO, but in the system we play, Vestergaard is the better option, particularly against sides where we probably don't need to defend that much and he has time to play through the line passes which he excels at.

Haha you've read it wrong. It's Ricardo LB and Hamza as the inverted RB with Faes RCB and Vestergaard LCB (what both of them have been playing)

 

Then when Ricardo needs a rest, Justin back at LB and Hamza inverted RB.

McAteer on the right gave us an option of someone not needing to cut inside. Would like to give Fatawu a start from the left.

Fatawu stays on the right, he has to take the lead as the go-to winger for this game, we tend to lean heavily on the left-hand side, and he needs to step up.

Vesty is statistically miles ahead of Coady in defensive attributes. Which is unbelievable considering how poor he had been for us.

 

Coadys reputation is pretty mad considering hes been binned off by an average and then a poor Premier league team.

 

Top notch bloke but I really don't understand the hype around him as a defender.

Fair point. But watch Enzo improve him no end before the seasons over.

Like JJ he's only getting his match fitness back by playing games. We're going to need everyone over the season.

What I like about Enzo is he takes each player as an individual and improves them.

That's the sign of a great Manager.

Fortunately Enzo will stay more humble than some of our supporters, although it is funny. 
 

I think these can be better than their league position suggests. Need to break them down early and just be wise to any counter attacks.

I can only see maybe 3 changes, with Vestergaard coming in for Coady, maybe Yunus coming in too for Fatawu and Kel in for Vardy

Last time we met in the corresponding fixture and the league they had the likes of Butland (who scored an own goal), Shaqiri, Allen, Zouma, Choupu-Moting (remember him?), Adam, N'Diaye, and Diouf and Paul Lambert in charge!

 

Then, more recently, there was that demolition in the cup.

That's why I've been mulling over. Not sure how many changes there'll be. Although it's the international break, he will have to factor in that the likes of Faes, Wilf and Iheanacho will likely play twice whilst away.

Leicester City vs Stoke City Pre-Match

 

After a decent first 4 games, Stoke have tailed off recently...

 

 

 

 

 

This is a very difficult team to analyse, they really seem like a team that are all over the place, with frequent changes to players and formations. They are on a poor run of form, with 4 losses in their last 6, and their one win involved a comeback from 2 goals down in a game that Bristol City and Nigel Pearson will feel aggrieved to lose.

• The Southampton game had a really strange look to it. Looking at those average pitch positions, I assumed they were going man for man, but looking at the extended highlights, that doesn't appear to be the case.
  • The tactics looked like they were trying to compact play centrally and suffocate the game.
  • They lost at home to Ipswich early in the season before anyone realised quite how good they were, and in that one they did try 4231, which is maybe why they tried something different in this one.
  • This was the first game Southampton got a clean sheet, but Stoke were denied a pretty obvious penalty.
  • That aside, Stoke have struggled in front of goal this season, with only 11 goals from their 10 games so far.
• The Bristol game is a much more familiar 4231 with fullbacks pushed high to provide the width.
• Stoke seem a bit like a Championship version of themselves in the Premier League. Too good to go down, not good enough to challenge for the play-offs. Mid-table purgatory awaits.

Based on what I've seen from them, I think they will turn up with a 4231, but play rather cautiously. Not as cautiously as Preston or even Bristol, but maybe more like Cardiff where they try but struggle against our Premier League quality players who are stuck in the Championship. I think they will defend their positions rather than go for man-to-man. If they try to compress play centrally I think they would get destroyed by our wide players, but there is a certain logic in trying that against teams that try to overload midfield with an inverted player like both Southampton and us do.

 

Anything can happen in this division, but it's hard not to see anything other than a fairly comprehensive home victory here. Stoke have only 1 clean sheet all season, are horrible away from home, and struggle to score. If we aren't complacent, we should find a way to win.
