Stoke Post Match

Recommended Posts

Very boring match but we were in complete control. We desperately need to stop playing ourselves into trouble on the break considering just how few times we have a chance to hit opponents on the counter, we have to be clinical and we are missing something in the final third, thankfully we are very obviously well above this level and our class keeps "saving" us in terms of getting the results over the line, but we really need to be getting that second goal earlier and burying the game. 10 points clear of the playoffs already.

Enzo so far is showing huge promise, and could well be on his way to the top in the future. Hopefully we can keep him interested in our project and give him the financial backing and contract needed to keep him here should this form continue. Long way to go yet but once again another largely stress free weekend.

If we’re judging a defender by his ability to defend, then like Maguire, Vestergaard is going to be found out (again) at the top level if we keep him. Like Maguire people are mugging themselves off because he’s good on the ball.

he won't be managed by a Dinosaur this time round though

Barely out of second gear. Way too good for them.

Not convinced about yunus on the wing is the only negative.

Totally agree re Yunus out wide. Looks far more effective inside. He’s a bit Praet-like on the wing.

Water into wine doesn’t even begin to describe what Enzo has done with Vestergaard. A genuine miracle worker and now means our £7.5m summer signing has a real job on his hands getting in the side once he’s fully fit. Said elsewhere but it’s not just the playing well, it’s the fact he looks involved and engaged, too. For someone who was shunted out and lied to by Rodgers it’s some turnaround and it’s great to see a lot of fans (including me!) recognise he’s not just a Scandinavian Winston Bogarde.
