Stoke Post Match

Recommended Posts

Enough said.

We looked very good. Stoke were turgid - but partly because we had a plan for them.

Alex Neil is a Championship level manager. No shame in that. But Maresca is a level above - and it definitely showed.

Stoke had injuries, which no doubt had an effect.

Like I said earlier, I want to see the heat map for Leicester this match, but I don't really know where to look and how long to wait.

Any suggestions?

WhoScored and Sofascore do them

On WhoScored you click on Heatmaps

On Sofascore you have to click on the individual players

The issue , and I dint think it's too early for this , is that it'll be almost impossible to replicate this style in the Prem

Yes, it will be with the current squad. Should we win promotion 🤞we will need to invest heavily in players capable of playing Enzoball. Burnley are trying to play that way with a squad of players not able to make that step up. Nice problem to ponder…

I REALLY struggled at times today, it was really testing to watch at times.

I KNOW the aim and bigger picture and how teams come to play at KP BUT still there were times when you were just saying "shoot ffs" or ping it through the hole.

Still, it's a win and cruising through

Got to agree nearly dozed off first half ,Of course vesty will have a ton of passes and he has little pace thier chance first minute if 2nd half he just couldnt stay with his man.

Wilf is the man amazing me

What were all the half-time announcements about? I only caught a few of the words clearly, something about asking people to go back in due to an incident?

The bright sparks at Leicester decided to open the smoking area in the family stand next to where they opened it for the away fans , people were chucking stuff

No, I think it will be possible. This team gets more and more confident with the strategy and style.

I think the current team would be lower mid table in the current Prem.

I've come to accept that the majority of teams will sit back and hope for the best and try not to be humiliated. Unfortunately I think this means there are going to be a lot of games where the first half is quite tedious. I am happy that we just tire teams out and that the last 30 minutes is full throttle and exciting. There will be the odd few teams that may give it a go, Leeds, Sunderland and Ipswich and I look forward to seeing 90 minutes of entertaining football when this occurs and hopefully we still come out on top..

Vesty was a pretty decent PL player before Rodgers got hold of him.  Full credit to Enzo for realizing he was a vital cog in his system, and obviously going up against Championship attackers helps a ton.  But Vesty’s miraculous turnaround is more an indictment of Rodgers than anything else.

So true. The evidence of Rodgers’ stubborn incompetence - or sabotage - continues to stack up by the week.

Jannik Vestergaard is the first player to attempt 1000+ passes in the Championship in 2023/24 (1003)

He's misplaced just 67, giving him a passing accuracy of
93.62%.

As shown today though it’s not just passing for the sake of it. 95% of those passes are just to pop the ball around but he also makes decisive ones to open up play. Our defenders made tons of passes under Puel and Rodgers, but they were nowhere near as valuable.

Had to laugh at them giving it the big un as they went past the bricklayers, throwing beer and bottles at us, kids and pensioners, while safely hiding behind the police escort.

But let’s face it stoke is only second to luton as the biggest sh1t hole in England so not too surprised. lol
