Used to be that I thought I'd move back to Eastern Europe for the more affordable life and slower pace. Now I think it might be for the better infrastructure and healthcare.

I was always really glad to visit Spain and drive on the lovely roads our EU contributions paid for, and now you can do it in Eastern Europe too!  And enjoy the modern airports and so forth.

If only Biden didn’t reinforce the impression described in the report every time he appears in public, eh?

Yes.  It is insane that the election for the "leader of the free world" is between these two aged men.  Again.  One of them is Orange ffs.

If you please.

Shows how ridiculous elements of the American right is that for much of the interview he basically spews Soviet (communist) propaganda and Carlson, apparently a 'conservative', doesn't contradict him because based Russian trad or something.

I have a theory. An alien race has been on our planet and morphed into our world leaders, and our playing almost a real version of Civ3. Just the last few years, they've got bored and just want to see what will happen. They just forgot to reset and select 'do not save'

First Babs has become a UFO conspiracist, and now you’re positing aliens - what is going on?

Maybe, just maybe, Trump and the American Right should reflect on why they aren't miles ahead in the polls, if Biden is as bad as they say he is?

well, it’s Trump for starters.

However, he IS ahead in every swing state and if the election was tomorrow it would be an overwhelming victory. A lot can change in a few months, though!

It’s ridiculous how much our standard of living has dropped in the last decade.
I have several relatives who live in Europe and they are shocked when they visit.

Become really noticeable in the last few years. Quality of roads in central London is on par with towns in E Europe, although that's been the case for a long time. And I don't believe I can rely on the NHS if I need it, which is probably the biggest thing.

Polls are narrowing aren't they and of course don't account for things like incumbency bias. More Trump support will come from groups less likely to actually get out and vote on the day.

Although one thing I've not discussed much is what a nightmare actually running the poll will be. Trump and his supporters will surely be crying foul and throwing accusations around everywhere. Now we've seen what they're capable of, would it really surprise anyone if they were out on the ground intimidating voters on polling day? How does law enforcement manage that without being accused of favouring Biden?

please dont get me wrong, im not  a Trump supporter... i cant stand the man...

However i unfortunately think the republicans are a shoe in to form the next government. As the campaign  rolls on they'll focus and ' expose' Bidens weaknesses... i mean, there's just been a report that states Biden is mentally unfit to stand trial... they'll use that... I dread to think  how Biden will be able to cope with the live televised presidential debates..  His health DOES appear to be deteriorating and , to me, it does seem like he has early stage dementia..

EDIT: a link for context https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68248059

Sadly, this seems to be an election based on who has the most weaknesses that can be exposed and  Teflon Trump somehow is managing to come through unscathed amongst his supporters.

It's scary to watch, for me.. It's almost demonic... He can do no wrong as far as some are concerned. It's like  watching a cult.

I've got to the age, where unfortunately i'm getting more acquainted with the NHS than i would like.

But in fairness i have to say, apart from longer waiting times than i would have liked, it has basically done everything it says on the tin.

GP referrals to specialist, consultations, operations, outpatients follow-up, professionalism at every stage.

Ticks in all the boxes.

That's good to hear, and I hope you continue to have a good experience and that you're healthy. It does worry my partner and I though that if we want a check up we need urgent healthcare we won't be able to get it. I'm sure it's unlikely that'll happen but the stories not only in the press but also from friends don't fill us with confidence.

Cheers.   Luckily nothing too serious.   Just getting old!

It's like many things.   The bad things tend to get a good publicity, whilst good stuff goes unnoticed.

As I say, waiting times are longer than you would want  (and it can be a pain waiting in the 08.00 phone queue to get a GP appointment!).

Also a bit of a pain also that they seem to prefer phone consultations initially, rather than face-to-face.

But I've found once I was "in the system", it's been pretty good.   And likewise most my friends and family have had similar experiences.   I can't recall many of them having problems

If it's that wonderful why did so many come to Britain for a "better life" and to find jobs?

Don't really know why I respond to straw man arguments like this but migration from the EU has been declining for some time and I believe was net negative last year. This was always likely to happen as living standards increased in those countries, which they have.

But it's not just that living standards there have improved, they have declined significantly here. I imagine the majority of people from Europe that move here now are lower paid and lower skilled, precisely the people that Brexiters were worried about.

My grandpa shits less in his diaper than yours!

The fact that these two clowns are in the race is disturbing.  Republicans should be getting in someone who can do 8 years not a 1 term and done guy.

Ah well, i think trump will win but also think he is more likely to snuff it on the job before biden would (of natural causes of course. I am not trying to suggest otherwise. Don't need the fbi or something showing up at my door lol).

I voted Remain FWIW.

However I suspect that leaving the EU is a significant factor of the decline in European immigration.

*Which countries?

It is, but other countries like Germany are struggling now to attract immigrants from e.g. Poland and from my own observations I would say most middle class E. Europeans are no longer that enamored with the thought of moving to the West. This is a good thing obviously.
