Lionator Posted 22 March Share Posted 22 March False flag theories are so ludicrous. Do you think a state who botched the invasion so badly, who accidentally ended up with Prighozin on the verge of a coup, could possibly organise anything like this without being picked up by foreign intelligence? The plot twist is that Putin was told this would happen and dismissed it as American propaganda. And the before you quote the Americans knowing as evidence of CIA involvement, Americans are balls deep in ISIS communication, so they hear these things. As much as anything, Russia don’t need a false flag anymore. They’re already doing whatever they want and making up some narrative to back it. Question now is how they’ll respond to it. If this group’s origin is right, they may lean on central Asian allies to deal with it for them.

Although I’m sure they’ll draw some tenuous propaganda link to Ukraine. The FSB are useless. In a true competent dictatorship like Stalin’s, they’d have all been murdered for their incompetence but now it seems to get rewarded provided you can loot the state and protect those in power. MPH Posted 23 March Share Posted 23 March it’s a very interesting development for there to be an Islamist attack INSIDE of Russia, especially Moscow,. You can’t ignore the backdrop of what’s going on in Ukraine. This will be a dent to their pride and it’s very possible they will shift some sort of focus elsewhere .. Ala U.S after 9/11. Do they want to be fighting two wars at the same time?

Also, how far away must you travel for someone to be sure that's where you were heading? And of course Islamist groups already saying it was them. Doesn't need a false flag, just to ignore a very real warning, then when it happens, turn it to your advantage.

He said there were people in Ukraine who were going to let them across the border. If he was going on the Ukraine angle, he’d have been straight to the point. That part is just easy propaganda. A bit like when our politicians say Brexit was Russia, or 3 coats going missing from Primark has links to Moscow. Also the thing Putin does well is says very little, he wants lots of different people saying different things as it somehow reinforces his power. Don't think they will have the resources with them in Ukraine also. They are thin on numbers as it is hence why they made a deal with prisoners to fight for their freedom. *Disclaimer* I know F*** All about politics and normally stay away from these topics but that's my 2 cents worth. Indeed. Successfully pulled off their attack to great effect (from their point of view), got away scot free and yet apprehended red-handed, as it were. Dunge Posted 23 March Share Posted 23 March It’s no surprise really. If the Russian public start thinking “the Muslims are out to get them” they might also start thinking that having all their military holed up in Ukraine fighting phantom threats instead of real ones is a bad idea.

They won't. They will likely see it as a an isolated attack that will result in some response, but not "militarily". They've got the Stasi for that. Most Russian's believe in the war in Ukraine and will continue to support the army being there rather than being pulled back to counter a negligible (in the scheme of things) incident.
