Just watched the highlights of that debate.  What a shitshow.  Biden at times looked as though he had just wondered off from his carer and Trump lying his arse off, as only a pathological liar can.  Hard to understand why the Democrats couldn’t field another viable candidate.  Wonder how many people just won’t bother to vote.

This is what I’m concerned about and I have raised this point before… it won’t be that Trumps rides in on a red carpet  with a huge increase in votes from the previous election, it might simply be that so  many democratic voters find it hard to get out and vote for  Biden. His vote share could go down tremendously.

i will say that the Democrats have one last chance to be brave. It’s still not too late to replace Biden.

if they lose this election, it won’t just be because of Biden, it will be because of weak leadership within the Democratic Party. For not acting when they should.

fortuntely in the United States there is the whole check and balance system of the senate and state that can somewhat control a rogue president like trump. BUT, some of those seats are up for grabs same night as the presidential election  and with those houses so close and tight, failure to turn up and vote in November could massively swing both houses into total republican control which could be catastrophic for the democrats… republican control in both, republican president, republican leaning Supreme Court… it could kill off the democrats for quite a while… it won’t be simply a case of trump going away in 4 years, he’ll learn from last time and will be preparing his successor and cementing his control and influence within the Republican Party..

Unfortunately I feel like Biden sealed his fate last night.

Unfortunately?

It’s a huge opportunity to boot him and seal the win - if they have the gumption to take it.

and the notion that Trump would have taken something to sharpen his mind but Biden missed that trick is just too far fetched.

I’m not going on a five hour dive into the internet to evidence this, but it is widely accepted that he uses substances.

If your hypothesis that the entire government apparatus turns Republican comes true, it can of course  have terrible implications for the wider world.  Trump has made veiled threats about withdrawing from NATO, in a way that no previous US President has.  He never seems to publicly criticise Putin and is likely to surround himself with ‘yes men’ including military commanders.  Just hope this nightmare scenario does not play out.

when it comes to his cognitive functioning, Trump was absolutely fine last night.

unfortunately last night killed off any notion Trump has any age related mental capacity issues. Trumps problems before the debate can now  be put down to the fact he is a waffling bafoon. Which is what I have said all along, actually.

and the notion that Trump would have taken something to sharpen his mind but Biden missed that trick is just too far fetched.

You know 100% for fact that Trump was juiced to the balls because he said Biden would be and literally every accusation he throws around is an admission lol

Just seen the Biden/Trump stuff.

Is it not worrying for Americans that they have to decide between the obvious nutcase that is Trump, or the stumbling OAP that is Biden?

Do the Democrats really believe Biden is the best they can produce? Surely you need someone coherent and clear in power?

If you don’t know and have no interest in checking, Trump’s words at least sound convincing. Biden sounds weak, feeble and confused. I think it’s stunning negligence from the Democrats that he’s their candidate for the next election.

It’s bad for the world, but it’s good for us in attracting external investment.

Plus, it was never dull watching the news when Trump was in - we get to watch a second insurrection- maybe even a civil war - when he refuses to leave office or attempts to change the constitution.

You look back at George W Bush and feel that he's thousands of times more preferably than either of the current choices.

RE Biden and unfortunately… unfortunate because it is practically giving Trump the white house if they don’t get rid of him..

RE Trump and drugs, My comment was in the context of of him potentially using something to sharpen his mind to give the impression of him not having dementia. He doesn’t have dementia and didn’t take anything to  ‘ lessen the effect’ of it for the debate.

Trump did address that in the debate.  He claimed he said that he isn’t going to continue funding NATO if other member nations don’t..

not that I believe him if that was an attempt at backtracking. I can’t really take him at his word for anything, really..

He wasn’t ‘ juiced to the balls’ to lessen the effect of dementia. Because he doesn’t have dementia. And if he was doing it because Biden was then Biden needs to ask for his money back because his ‘ juice’ failed miserably.

even the very left leaning news stations over here are all distraught at Biden’s performance in the debate last night and calling for him to go…

he has to if  the democrats want to have any chance of staying in power.. it really is last chance saloon for them!

If Trump said it was Friday and the sky was blue, the grass was green etc. I'd check!!

They believe he's the most milquetoast they can produce. It's the same reason we have Starmer. He's a harmless, neo liberal, middle ground option meant to court floating voters.

Someone like Bernie Sanders, genuinely a genius, would have wiped the floor with both of them in that debate without even trying.

But the Democrats see him as unelectable, partly because he's easily tarred as a SoCiaLiSt, which is like a swearword in America, and partly because he wants to mega tax the billionaires that both parties rely on as doners lol

Might be some life in the old dog yet. Not keen on these rallies with baying supporters, but the Yanks seem to lap it up. Good post debate performance here from Biden though.

Skip to 1 minute 30 and tell me that was a good performance again. The guy is done
