I think the armourer has already been tried and convicted

I bet that. But,.it's kinda like cabin crew sitting you in the emergency exit and then being charged with failing to open the door quick enough

My mate works in prisons. I've worked with cops and seen cells.

Picture the bathroom of a Victorian/ Edwardian stone terraced house. Now rip out the bath and replace it with a bunk bed. That's a cell.

Now imagine being in there for up to 20 hours a day with a stranger, who may be going through withdrawal or (worse) still actively using.

Yes, some prisoners get given Playstations and access to stuff but that's partly a reward thing and partly behaviour management. They're more compliant if they have something to lose.

Yes, there are people who "enjoy" prison. They may have power and more benefits than those around them. They are probably absolute c0nts who deserve to be there and never let out. But if they're able to "enjoy" prison, then they have never enjoyed freedom like we do.

Long story short - everyone should read "Prison A Survival Guide" by Carl Cattermole.

‘ the worlds toughest prisons’ is an interesting series on Netflix. No so much because it shows some absolutely hell holes on there, which it does, but because it also shows some prisons in Scandinavia where the focus is on rehabilitation and not punishment.

those were the episodes that interested me..

****ing hell. Manhunt on in Bristol for a man seen throwing suitcases off the Clifton suspension bridge, which have been discovered to contain human remains.

What the actual **** is wrong with people?

This report in the Bristol Post contains a few more details - ie, there was a trail of blood from one of the suitcases and the suspect was heard shouting in Spanish...

And Lord Timpson wants us to follow the Scandinavian model which seems to work well.

Although the Scandies are fundamentally a different culture to the Brits.

Rehabilitation would be ideal and in a fair world prison itself would only be for people who just cannot operate in society.

The problem is, crime is very complex and isn't just one reason. Marxists say it's an unjust society forcing criminals into crime, more authoritarian folks say they're just bad/ feckless. Human interactionists might blame abusive upbringings.

It's most likely a mix of all of them. It also comes down to what a society deems as "crime".

The prosecution case is that it wasn't a pretend gun but a gun capable of firing live rounds.

The prosecutor said "he held the gun, cocked the gun and pulled the trigger".

The prosecution case is that he, or weapon handler would have known it could hold live rounds.

The question surely is, who loaded the gun with a live round and did they know it was a live round?

It being a real gun is one thing but, why would you even have live rounds of ammunition on a film set?

I don’t know what these journalists think they’ll get out of Starmer by asking about Biden’s gaffe.

Although the one who asked him about the cricket did miss a trick by not asking whether or not he thought James Anderson was too old to do it anymore.
