This sort of thing is happening far too often now, it's incomprehensible. It's usually teenagers or people being stabbed but now psychos are going after young children. Enough is enough. Tougher sentences, build more prisons and super prisons. I don't care if the perpetrators scream mental health I am sick of this happening on a seemingly regular basis.

No doubt mental health will be to blame.

The bigger the pay rises for the Doctors, Nurses etc., the more a financial divide between them and the non-clinical staff like those working in Administration, Portering etc in healthcare.

Therefore representative of the extra education/dedication shown by qualified professionals. Harsh reality of it.

It's staggered, back dated and also they've been paid pretty poorly considering what they do for a long time.

So have Teachers, Police Officers, Firefighters, Nurses, Border Force staff, etc etc etc.

We need more of all the above and this large pay rise will no doubt limit pots available for other much needed rises.

But Labour will see this as a quick fix post election ''Look at us we've fixed the pay dispute that the Tories were dilly dallying over for 12 months'' whereas in reality a large proportion of both public and private sector workers will be narked with this and will be spinning on their heels knowing there is a deal to be done with this government.

We'll find out how it's going to be paid for in a few weeks time, it begins with t and ends with x

Locals are saying that a man went into a Summer school at a Nursery and stabbed over 15 children, some already being described as fatal. Nothing confirmed yet of course.

Also reports of stabbings at a local McDonald’s too.

Well I would suggest the length of time they spend getting to that point should be taken into account, they've already spent 5 years at uni. And their starting wage as a Junior is little more than someone starting out as a teacher, or fire fighter (with just a few GCSE's)

Olympic broadcaster axed over sexist remark

Olympic broadcaster Eurosport has removed Bob Ballard from its commentary team in Paris after he made a sexist remark about Australia's female swimmers.

After watching the team take gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay event, Mr Ballard said: "Well, the women just finishing up. You know what women are like … hanging around, doing their make-up."

Mollie O’Callaghan, Emma McKeon, Meg Harris and Shayna Jack had just sealed victory and were waving to crowds when Mr Ballard made his comments.

A statement from the broadcaster said: "During a segment of Eurosport's coverage last night, commentator Bob Ballard made an inappropriate comment.

"To that end, he has been removed from our commentary roster with immediate effect."

Mr Ballard's co-commentator, British swimming champion Lizzie Simmonds, branded his remark "outrageous".

As someone who is frequently misunderstood when trying to say nice things that very, very infrequently and incredibly rarely come out a bit wrong, I completely empathise with poor Bob here.

Some people are very quick to take offense over the tiniest word these days. We all need to show a bit more love and understanding to all the Bobs of this world.

And by "all the Bobs",  I mean me.  :innocent:

Wonder how much further they’ll go ??

It’s going to be taken from one hand and given to the other. It was always going to be the case.

New government,  new ideas.

I can’t say I agree with the massive hike to Junior Doctors to be honest.

By year 5 they’re on a steady wedge on average. Unfortunately it’s like everything, you’ve got to earn your craft. They’ll out earn  the average wage.

Winter fuel payments scrapped for pensioners unless you are in receipt of pension credit or other means tested benefits.

I get it for the very rich with lots of savings but surely a lot of people are affected by this? I don't know much about pension credits but I'm confident you don't have to be a millionaire to be ineligible for it.

Of course many people are jumping to conclusions about where the perpetrator of this mornings dreadful stabbing was from. Are they an illegal immigrant ? Are they an immigrant ?

and then they’re saying that it will be put down to mental illness.
Are there any studies as to whether people who come here and seek asylum are more likely to suffer from mental illness with severe episodes? Many will have had a v tough time in their own country followed by an incredibly stressful journey here.   The mental health systems here are simply not fit for purpose - it should be no surprise if people have come here who need support and just don’t get it.  another reason to get our infrastructure sorted out before we accept too many people. Of course exactly the opposite has happened under the previous administration.

The Huw Edwards thing is incredibly murky. It reads as if it was 3 instances of making sexual images of a child, which is a very very broad definition. It is incredibly important to treat these sorts of cases delicately.

Britain had really shot itself in the foot, legally speaking, by allowing the 16-18 gray area to exist.

For example: we have to REGULARLY explain to our 16-17 year old students that sharing pictures of themselves with boyfriends/ girlfriends, etc is in breach of this very law.

We have also had instances where 17 year old students have been advertising online, upon websites which SHOULD be carrying out ID checks.

This is not to say that Huw Edwards is "innocent" or whatever but it does highly the very real issues that crop up with inconsistent legislation and enforcement.
