I got some good natured ribbing in the match thread for being so frustrated by us conceding but my point still remains; we need to stop being so negative when we score. We have attacking threats all over the pitch. When teams finally come out and try and attack, that is the time to put the game to bed.

We were incredibly lucky. I hope the manager and the other backroom staff urge the players to keep pushing for goals (in a considered, non reckless way) after we score late in a game.

Pretty average all around, although I thought KDH and Wilf were brilliant for the whole match. KDH's motor is utterly elite. He never tires. Fatuwu was also good when he came on.

West Brom seemed well prepared and cut off many of our passing lanes. A tricky fixture.  A lucky escape, hope we learn some lessons from it.

I thought Kel was bang average but that last pass to start the break away was just chefs kiss amazing. Fair play.

Deliberately stayed out of the match thread, it gets really toxic in there.

 

In general, I think we played a pretty good game against a clearly very well coached team that showed why they've been in great form recently.

 

For me, in this game we had a lot more nice attacking patterns of play and team moves, which was great to see. Like most fans though, I don't think we create enough chances and that's what makes the games always feel like they are on a knife-edge and why make things hard for ourselves. And I feel like the lack of chances is because of the manager's philosophy. I don't think it's as pedestrian or sideways as under Rodgers or Puel, but many times in the game it feels like we could be a bit more direct in the final third to make things happen. That said, the KDH goal was a good advert for what happens when the rehearsed patterns of play work.

 

Great result, I think on the overall balance of play we did deserve the win, but lucky to get away with it. One thing that is both worrying and bizarre is that after we score, we aren't good at controlling the game, even though we spend the entire match up to then doing exactly that!

I'm fairly sure that stupidity on that level qualifies as a disability.

We can be negative when there's a 2 or 3 goal cushion, but when there's just one, anything can happen.

Maresca has transformed not only Ndidi, Vestergaard, and our entire defence (which seemed completely beyond repair), but also the mentality of the team and the atmosphere around the club. I always back us to grab a late winner or bounce back if we concede as opposed to folding like a deck of cards as we would be guaranteed to do under Rodgers, even against midtable championship opposition.

If people can't see the polar difference in management then I really do despair.

For a start the fans knew and could see what Bodgers was doing and we didnt like it!! He was useless! As regards to the other players that you mention, bare in mind the level we are playing at.....and we STILL give these teams a chance to beat us due to trying to play out from the back as if we're Man City!
