FA Cup Third Round

Recommended Posts

It's not exciting but it's winnable and if this league lacks one thing it's London aways, so I'm happy to get another this season even if it is one that we'll have in the league anyway.

Third draw away to them in seven years.

Leicester v Swansea on 27th January very likely to move to midweek - they drew Morecambe at home.

Funny how we always draw Millwall away.   All 5 times drawn away.

1934  4th round  won 6-3
1969  4th round  won 1-0
1985  5th round  lost 0-2
1991  3rd round  lost 1-2
2017  5th round  lost 0-1

The last 3 have been horror shows.

1985 we were 1st Div and Millwall were 3rd Div, but lost 2-0 on a cold February night ... at a very hostile old Den.
1991 we were leading 1-0 from an early goal.  Paul Ramsey got sent off in the 78th min, and we conceded 2 late goals.

2017 we were reigning Premier League champions, there were 3rd tier.  Last minute winner for Millwall, pitch invasion and all.

Playing Milwall reminds me of the day I learned to crave the end of Chilwell. A key contributor to that cup loss and a sickening smile at the end. Hopefully fewer prema donna's will be there this time.

Haha I had to the misfortune of being in a shop called Foot Asylum today. I’m stood at the check out and who should appear on the massive screen in front me? Ben Chilwell marketing a load of their crap.

Am convinced somewhat that some of the recent draws, particularly the Carabao ones, are rigged for certain clubs.

I've often thought the same...

Sometimes it just seems to go to be true, but if I'm honest I can't for the life of me work out how they would actually do it....

Have specific balls prewarmed so there's a temperature difference when drawing

Aarh good call.

I suppose different texture on some of the balls could be another way. Smooth is a sh1t team and a rough texture is a "fixed" team

That'd work but they'd need new balls each round and for each year because the first 44 numbers are the prem and championship sides listed in alphabetic order (so we switch between 20 and 21 based on whether Barnsley have been relegated or promoted recently).

Worth the expense for the 'gains' the fixing would give to the respective cup.

OK fun over and back down to earth for me.
