What we expected.

 

If you're complaining it is boring I'm not really sure what else you were expecting . One team set up to win. One team set up to frustrate. Never going to be an exciting game

 

Soon as we win the ball back we need to quicken the tempo and exploit any areas they have vacated and even a scruffy 1-0 win will do.

That is why we're better away, and against the teams that show even a modicum of ambition.

I think its more we not running through them with the ball or passing through t the middle as we back to keeping the ball being the priority, so the more dangerous attacking moves are deemed too risky, passing it to the wingers again and again is less risky as they got more space, thats why I think we doing it.  But we need to mix it up, its far too predictable.

 

Our best chance came in the 37th minute from our one dribble down the middle.

We're playing the wrong type of risky pass. 

 

The risk we're currently taking is the risk that the ball might go out of play, with cute chipped balls and cross field balls over their defence. 

 

Against a Rotherham team offering nothing in possession, we can afford to risk losing the ball more often. We need to play more short, intricate passes in and around the box. If we lose it we'll probably win it back quickly anyway. 

 

The ball going out of play kills the move, and getting those long/cute balls right is so hard to do with the numbers they have back there. We're literally having to land the ball in a 1ft x 1ft zone.

 

Them getting the ball back doesn't end the move. Eventually we'd find half a yard and get a shot off.

We need to stop being afraid to lose it, just get good at winning it back quickly and take the risks.

 

We seem to want to pass it into the net and labour to a win, better to fly out the gates, kill the game early then can do slow keep ball to see the game out.
