Been out injured for pretty much a year as he is another one that did his ACL, hasn't played since January 2023

 

I expect the club were just looking after him through recovery until he found another club

Was more of a comment on it actually being a decent move for him. Next time, I’ll quote an Oli Norburn or Cedric Kipre. Banbury are a well run club and after the trauma of injury it may be best for him to be playing regular football at a decent level, rather than sitting on the bench at league level like so many of our releases do.

The point was that the move isn’t necessary a blight on his ability, it’s perhaps more positive than you suggested.

Not every player at u23 level is there to progress to 1st team. Those that have real potential still need a squad of lesser lights around them.

For every vardy there’s  thousands of tafts. You can’t sit on them all, you just block the development of more promising individuals
