Leicester 1-1 Ipswich Post Match Thread

Glad you pointed out the weak midfield. Would we get away with playing Winks as a DM in the Premier League? I’m not so sure. He was another one that got more and more exposed in those last 20 mins.

What seemed bizarre tonight with our midfield is how they allowed the game to get stretched.

When Ipswich are sitting with a back 5, playing with two 8’s is fine.

When you’re 1-0 up with 10 to go, that’s possibly the time to say, let’s only push one and sit two.

Yet we continued to play with abandon, leaving space on the transition. We continued to try and invert the fullback, instead of keeping our shape.

I’ve praised Enzo for how well coached we’ve looked when playing his system - but that second half in particular we looked decidedly uncoached.

But we literally play those types of balls. The Doyle assist for Cannon springs to mind. But Ipswich were all over our forwards and midfielders so any high balls got snuffed out.

If Cannon makes runs and is constantly ignored, it's also on him to offer more support instead, on could say.

First half average positions Cannon was dropping deeper than the wingers to link. We just didn't put chances away. Again.

It's like people are forgetting all the 1-1 draws against average teams they've had in this unbeaten run. Would like to say it's just annoyance immediately after the game but not so sure!

Stuff happens, thing are going to go against you.

We will be fine.

By far the better team conceded a goal at the end, KDH had a good match, far to slow on the potential breaks towards goal giving Ipswich all the time in the world to reset the defence. When are we going to make Subs sooner that can actually effect the match just knew they would equalise frustrating as Fu$k still a point though.

Top of the league or not we don't learn from any of the lessons we've been dealt this season.

It's quite ridiculous

This season…it’s same errors from the last two of Rodgers era, same players with same habits

Do we though?

Trying to hang on to 1 goal leads and conceding late on is becoming a bit of a worrying theme.

There's a strong argument to that effect.

Hladky makes two top drawer saves, we have 8 shots in total on target; Ipswich forced 1 save out of Mads before getting a deflected shot and a bungled scuffed tap in.

For all our 'hanging on' between our goal and theirs we had six shots on target to their one - could we have had more? - maybe, but to say we were just hanging on is horribly incorrect - we had more then enough chances to get a second, whilst they weren't anywhere near getting a goal.

It’s a woeful league, we really ain’t all that.

Genuinely not convinced by Enzo and our style.

I guess being in the best position at this stage of the season of any team in the last 120 years of championship/division 2 football just isn’t enough to convince you then.

What were you expecting? Arsenal 2004? Barcelona 2015. Brazil 1970?

A mixture of all 3 tbh

10 games ago we were 1 point above Ipswich and 8 points above third place. We are now 7 above Ipswich and still 8 above third.  No need to go all Corporal Jones just yet.

I mean you’re absolutely right, of course, but I’ve been supporting Leicester since the late 70s. Optimism will kill you.

They didn't look like scoring on Boxing Day either. Sheff Wednesday didn't look like scoring. Neither did Middlesbrough at the Riverside. Goals can come from nothing, that's the point. We need to put sides to the sword more (like Millwall for example, so if we do concede from nothing it doesn't matter).

So you're saying it's possible to 'see it coming' whilst 'not looking like scoring'?  That's just bewildering.

Look at the stats - after we scored we had 6 shots on target to their one - they have a good keeper, we have to be better -  but it's easy to just say we have to put teams to the sword, it's another thing to actually turn chances into goals - tonight we had enough chances, and even plenty of shots on target, another day it's us that gets the flukey deflection.  you can't win em all - but to say 'the wheels have come off' is nonsense.

Couldnt find it? we would get it forward to around the halfway line, forward players waiting for it, then it would be passed back.

Some just cant read the game, we were playing so defensive.

At one point Vardy nicked the ball in a good position , ran forward expecting the cross, when he got there, it was back to our defenders lol.

We were going forward at about 85mins and someone (I assume from our bench, maybe Willy?) screamed ‘keep the ball’. It’s not necessarily bad way to play, but surely you have to advance when in promising positions.
