Blue Cards for Sin-Bins

Just awful. If there's one thing VAR has proven it's that less is more. All this will do is create more boring controversy, more boring debates, more rule X says this rule Y says that. It's just another measure that puts more emphasis on the officiating when the one of the original premises of VAR was to take away from that.

Gives refs more chance to botch things and screw matches up, they'll be more tempted to send players off for 10 minutes at a time.

It’s crap.

Another way to bail out the crap refs, giving them even more of the limelight.

If they could do their job properly this wouldn’t need to be introduced. So stop failing to book players 2 minutes into a game, and stop failing to book players when they’re already on a yellow card for the same fouls they’d book players for if they weren’t already on a yellow.

All be down to the subjective whim of a ref from game to game so there probably won't be the consistency expected and as Dan says we'll have even more talking points and debate on what is a blue card or a yellow card .

And teams will cry foul (sorry about the pun!( when) their player gets a blue card but someone from the opposition doesn't.

Sin bins are following rugby.

What football needs to do first, if they need to follow/improve, is have an official timekeeper just as they have in rugby.

Giving refs another card only increases the chances of them pulling out the wrong one!!

Exactly - this is meant to be for dissent apparently but we all know no 2 refs are the same in how they punish it now so why expect them to with a blue card.

I don't mind the concept as it works in rugby. But it won't be implemented properly in football and there isn't the same respect amongst players and officials.

Refs will pick and choose who they punish and it'll be a mess like VAR. There's already a massive disparity between decisions the big clubs get vs the rest and this will only widen the gap.

Refs can't even get yellow cards right ffs!

This. The principle is fine and it would be good to see it, the practice - simply because of the way football is now - would be rather different.

nice idea in theory but in practice if a team has a man in the bin they'll shut up shop for 10 mins, also if they are for cynical fouls will ref give out multiple cards to a team at a time or will they give 1 token card and ignore it?

We see with time wasting a keeper gets booked, keeps doing the same and the second yellow never comes

Certain quarters have been desperate to get sin bins in to football for ages. This is horrendous.

If there's any leagues that aren't going to do this, relegate us to that level please. I've had enough of this shit.

Leave the game alone.  We don't need Var, we don't need 5 subs, we dont need an elbow being offside due to a line drawn on the screen, we don't need balls with chips in them, we don't need a 48 team world cup in different countries, we don't need European super leagues and we dont need sin bins....the players know the rules.  If you are on a yellow, don't dive in.

The beauty of football used to be it was the same game for kids on Sunday parks, dust pitches in Africa or a makeshift wasteground pitch in rio as it was in the world cup final and it became the most popular game on earth.

I may be a dinosaur but the only change I think has improved the game was bringing in the back pass rule. UEFA, FIFA f*#k off and leave OUR game alone.
