Spudulike Posted 22 February Share Posted 22 February Need big performances from our wingers as that is where we can take advantage of Leeds. If we get another Middlesborough performance from those two then it's difficult to see how we'll score.

Leeds will seek to lay siege to our goal. There will be more space for our wingers tomorrow.

He's better off the bench that starting from the off as he simply can't press as Cannon and Daka do for the length of time

And we'd been denied a stonewall penalty that would have made it 2-0 to us and game over.
Trent Steel Posted 22 February Share Posted 22 February Vardy needs to start as he will be fired up to silence the Leeds fan, he will either score us some goals or get sent off!! i know the deflections were lucky but we had chances to put both games to bed

We have by far the better away form, we've only taken 2 points less from away games this season than they have at home. It's not a write off. Given the defeatist mood of an apparently big part of the fanbase, we may be just as well off playing this one at Elland Road. Playing well enough to control the game and gain a point is all we need, and might be enough to dampen the mood there. Whereas at home it might activate the boobirds?

We didn't take our chances, sat back, lost control of the match and became nervy. This is fair. The away game on Boxing Day, I think we did a good job and genuinely got undone by a really lucky double deflected goal after we should have had a clear pen on KDH. Yes they come into the game and pushed us back but we were away at the team in second place so you wouldn’t expect to dominate for 90+ minutes. They didn’t really trouble us at all. As you say, the home game in January, we were excellent first half and had a number of good chances and Ipswich looked completely out their depth. It was almost like we just had the stuffing knocked out of us and unconsciously accepted the second goal wasn’t going to happen and let them into the game. The goal itself was again lucky the way it fell but more ‘you make your own luck’ not jammy f***ers luck. I’m not sure why people can’t accept that. Bottling might be a strong word to use for it but we definitely wobbled in that game anyway.

It does seem like people have blinkered vision. Fatawu's not got the most Big Chances Created by accident. If we could finish then the wingers would look even better, and that goes for Stephy too because off the top of my head I can think of two sitters he's given to Vardy which haven't amounted to anything.

davieG Posted 22 February Share Posted 22 February Appointments made for Friday's fixture. The match officials for Leeds United’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Leicester City have been confirmed, with Craig Pawson set to take charge. After earning valuable experience as an assistant, Pawson was handed his EFL refereeing debut in League Two in 2008, overseeing the curtain raiser between Grimsby Town and Rochdale. In that first campaign, Pawson would go on to officiate 23 times across the EFL and FA Cup. In his career, the Sheffield-born official has taken charge of the 2021/22 FA Cup final, the 2016/17 EFL Cup final, as well as a League Two Play-Off final and two Community Shields. The 44-year-old has overseen 20 fixtures this campaign, across the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and European competitions. In the Europa League, Pawson has been involved in clashes between Panathinaikos and Villarreal, Qarabag FK and Bayer Leverkusen, and Ajax and AEK Athens. Last season's home defeat to Liverpool was the 11th time Pawson has taken charge of the Whites, winning three and drawing three of those matches. In 41 fixtures involved with Leicester, the Foxes have won 13, drawn eight and lost 20. Last time out, Pawson was on Europa Conference League duties in Belgium, showing six yellow cards and a red as Union Saint-Gilloise drew 2-2 with German side Eintracht Frankfurt. Popular Post moore_94 Posted 22 February Popular Post Share Posted 22 February (edited) Enzo Maresca Pre-Match Press Conference vs Leeds Injuries? “Ben is back. The only one at the moment is Wilf. He’s still injured. Will Alves, after the Under-21 game, he got a muscle problem. “Iheanacho’s available, yes. As we said, one of our best positions is Wilf and then we lost Cesare. We are trying to adapt. Unfortunately Wilf is still injured.” “They said to me (on Alves), three or four weeks. I don’t know (what specifically the problem is).” Pivotal game? “For sure it’s an important game. When you see you’re close to the final target, when you drop points, you are sad. But it’s about balance. We still have 12 games. We are in the final run.” Could be down to six points with a loss? “We never give importance to the points difference. It was 17, but it was also eight. Now it’s nine. Could be six, it could be 12. It’s the final target. We’ll see.” Prepare for the game? “We try to prepare the game in the way we want. We can’t control the final result. We dominated the game with many shots but at the end we lost. We are going to do our game. It doesn’t matter tomorrow result in terms of confidence. It will be one more game.” Aiming to win title or just promotion? “If we are able to finish first, good, happy. But it’s important for the fans to finish well.” How many points needed for promotion? “No idea because it’s… not strange, but we dropped points, Southampton dropped points, Leeds are winning every game now. We’ll see game after game.” What to expect from Leeds? “I think they are quite similar. They are very dangerous when the opposition have the ball. They have very good players, especially the four up front. They are fantastic.” Why are Leeds unbeaten at home? “The reason why they didn’t drop points at home. I don't know. The last time I was there with Man City, we won, so they can lose at home. They say the atmosphere is very good.” Big game for both teams? “It’s a huge game for them. For us, it’s one more game.” Win would be significant in promotion push? “It would be good. Winning tomorrow means we need less points for the final target. But if we draw or lose, we are still there and we’re going to fight to the end.” Bouncing back from Boro loss? “We have already lost two games in a row. Leeds and Boro. Hopefully tomorrow we can win. If we can win five or six in a row, it’s probably finished.” Need to hush the Leeds crowd? “It will be very important if we are able to decrease the atmosphere. We’ll try to keep the ball and control our game, avoiding the transitions from the first game. All of their chances were because we lost the ball. But we can’t think that we’re not going to lose the ball. It’s going to happen, we have to manage it.” Why is game more important for Leeds? “I think it’s an important game, and every time we win a game, we move closer to the target. But if it doesn’t happen, we keep going. It’s a huge game, but for them more because they are nine points behind us. If we are nine points behind, yes, it’s the game we have to win.” Edited 22 February by moore_94
jonny_wright Posted 22 February Share Posted 22 February Although it’s hard to argue against playing our game, i can’t help but think a counter attacking set up would benefit us in this situation, same as Southampton away 3
