Leeds United (A) 3-1 - Post-Match Thread

There is no more defending £20m wonderboy Daka by the way. End of discussion (albeit was mostly one forum member…)

What I will say though, he had no right to walk straight back in after AFCON, really poor management.

I want him out and Cannon in. He's the only striker we have other than the obvious who looks like he knows where the back of the net is.

Totally undeserved. Played well but they had a massive portion of luck with off side goal and double deflection. Just one of those days again. Need to take our chances but carry on playing like that and we'll be fine.

A wise man said something similar last season....

Daka missing that sitter was brutal, but blaming him for this is ridiculous.  He assisted one goal, should have scored another, and had one probably incorrectly disallowed (though in real-time it did look offisde, and it was the lineman’s call and not Pawson’s).  Daka was overall very good.

He was bloody excellent on the whole. Hamza great in keeping Summerville in check. KDH looked the best midfielder on the pitch.

Those moments at the end as much as a collectively failure above anything else

Yes, I’d have maybe gone Albrighton personally.

You know that Albrighton WILL cross the ball...and that's when Cannon should come to the fore.... McAteer is not a winger in the same mould as Albrighton at all!

I would have maybe have dragged Fatawu, rather than Mavididi as well.

Mav was offering an outlet and kept them pushed back. Fatawu drops deeper which allows them to press on more.

Like the more sensible posters have said though. We are still 6 points better off and losses happen.

Piroe should have maybe scored twice in the first half. We go again but we need to beat QPR.

But over a season they don't have enough, none of them do and they all require too many chances before they do score.  How many games before today have we struggled to put games to bed because we see miss after miss after miss?  And how many times recently has that bitten us on the arse.

None of our strikers are prolific enough, they need too many chances to score.

Vardy must have a good goals per minute ratio and was just coming into form. Bad time to get injured and I was worried before the game. I thought Daka did well tonight apart from missing that sitter. Cannon looks promising. Kel sadly has been the big disappointment. Let’s be honest we played well tonight just had some tough luck with the disallowed goal and a bad deflection. Time to shake it off and get behind the team again. You wouldn’t swap our position with anyone else in the league.

After the Daka miss you just knew what was coming.

Ridiculous how we didn’t win that game.

10000000%

I actually thought we would draw but that was Rodgers style crumble once again. Soft underbelly seems to be in our DNA

For 75 minutes we totally outplayed an in-form Leeds who looked clueless about how to beat us to be fair. An incorrect call by the offcials robbed us of a vital second goal and we missed a couple of absolute sitters to put the game beyond Leeds. Had we netted a couple of the sitters we've missed in the last two games we'd be 15 points clear and the title race would have been over. The fact that the gap has now narrowed to 6 points and Southampton and Ipswich will likely also close in on us tomorrow is definitely cause for concern. And, given the way  the way we collapsed under pressure in the final 15 minutes suggests we could well bottle it.

McAteer like Casadei before him is an absolute game destroyer.

Enzo cost us at Cov and cost us today.

Up until the subs, thanks to Enzo, it was one of our best performances in decades. Right up there with Spurs away in the title winning season

Fatawu cost us at Cov.  You’re reaching.

Typical comment in post match thread:

1. List the following actual reasons why we lost: missed chances, disallowed goal, poor officiating, lucky deflections.

2. Then insist that the real reason we lost was: a) poor substitutions, b) bottling it or c) both of these.

This wasn't a bottle job we were fighting til the end, we just got beaten by some undefendable goals.

And the substitutions were spot on daka and mavi were both knackered and starting to make bad passes (not to mention had blown their lines in front of goal).

Everyone's disappointed but, other than the poor finishing, we did everything in our power to win that game, and were hugely unlucky not to get even a point let alone lose by two goals.

How did their second goal come about? Fatawu needlessly lost the ball in a terrible position just outside our box which led to them getting the ball and getting that deflected effort! Weak decision making but the lad is young, only if we had an experienced winger on the bench??

They don’t have enough, because we play with one striker and they have all had a run in the team - Daka 12 games 7 goals, Vardy 23 games 10 goals.

Multiply these out over the season and they are all very good records.

We have a combined 24 goals so far this season from the player playing in that role . We just rotate more than any other team.

That was a long, long time ago. When's the last time we won a big game?

Doesn’t matter how long ago it was. Only three weeks ago everyone was shitting themselves about Southampton. Yet we absolutely destroyed them, very similar to tonight only difference being we took our chances that night.

Both subs just killed us today tottally lost our shape Ricardo seen the danger that Daka had been working hard all game to cover and they broke down that right side where Mav was covering all night

Once they got that first goal the second was inevitable
