Leeds United (A) 3-1 - Post-Match Thread

nothing will ever top the spurs home game

True true.

In the context of the season though that wasn't a crucial game. We win that tonight we are basically champions. Now we've given those twats the shot in the arm they needed - on a genuinely crap showing by them too. I'm absolutely livid.

Incredibly disappointing result.

To my eye we looked a considerably better side than them but as we missed chance after chance you knew it would bite us on the arse.

Leicester City never promised us a rose garden did they  - Unfortunately I still luv um and there were some magnificent performance in my view - Ricardo magical the boy can play, KDH endeavour and work rate, Vesty put in a couple of beautiful last ditch tackles

Take away last night's result, let's not forget not long ago we were 12 points clear.

This is Rodgers level of bottling. We've seen it before, on more than one occasion.

New players, new manager, still no back bone.

Leicester were outstanding for 80 minutes…
pawson & Linesman  prevented 2-0 disallowing goal
Mavididi should of scored
Dake should of scored another
Fatawu created & blew another
0-5 before 80 minutes..Leeds were roasted.
Leicester then jumped into the fryer….

We could/ should look into this time next season..

because I did post the same in November after losing to M’borough.!!

We are losing,won games ..

We have to learn:-

to be clinical in converting..100%er

strong mental strength to turn our advantage into end results.

A top team still has to be a cut above Refs poor desciscions

After Sheffield Wednesday ,our game management is still an issue,

mid-field & defence have to tale hold and manage oppo press..

but Enzo has still EoS to work it out,we are a developing growing team.

We have evolved and grew, but so far not on those critical points..

One could argue..

New player investment will help.

Tweaks  in the squad and system inevitable

Twists and football delivering its own fate..

Enzo is still even first season back in PL

learning and developing his system to new pressures.

Backbone of squad will have it ingrained and solid ideas.

If his players can return simular results, because we can

turn just 60-70% of  the teams we meet over for points..

The system will take us a long way..Its just getting over

and improving on that game management.

Plus odd mental collapse against teams

with 90 minutes press..NSD aptitude.

In actual fact from the above, nothing has changed our upward

trajectory has had plateaus, but also found uncommon,

above normal positive surges…

.if nothing implodes no drastic loss of confidence

or long term form & injury, the future now and next season

is bright…

100% frustration guaranteed, because we are football fans!!
Enzoball is still worth getting behind..

The rest of the season those 6 points could well again grow

to 9-11 pts…

Enzo just has to pick up his team and make them believe

the old ahdege..’everything will be alright’ we have wobbled,

now time to start again..Like we so far always have done.

The scary horrible boys have gone..we have only teams

we have beat in front of us…except Hull, those we need to roll over.

Show the world it’s time to write & complete this seasons

football story….

109- 114pts is still a target worthy  to hold onto

Lets indirectly now ruin the other 3 season…

It's so frustrating. Clearly we were the better side and should have been at least 2 goals ahead before they scored.  10 minutes of madness and luck for Leeds. They threw the kitchen sink at us and we crumbled

The goal that was wrongly ruled offside was criminal, not booking Kamara for a rash challenge on KDH in the first half saved him from being sent off (even live score had him down as 2 yellows for a brief second )makes even more annoying. We were our own worst enemy, but that didn't help.

Unfortunately after the last 2 games, I have a sinking feeling. Leeds basically playing all the sides in the relegation battle and we have some tough games against Sunderland, Hull, Southampton to name a few.

This was a missed opportunity to stamp our authority on the league.

Played pretty well for 60-70 minutes, was really impressed with our game management.

Then we bottled it.

It doesn't matter that the goals we conceded were "lucky", we still conceded three goals in a very short space of time after missing a hatful of gilt-edged chances. That's down to allowing them back into the game after controlling it, and a complete lack of composure in front of goal.

So, so disappointing, and evidence that we're not as good as we think we are. We're essentially flat track bullies at the moment, and at critical moments, against decent opposition, we eventually cave.

I really hope we can go on a run again, but I'm not convinced we can, and that Leeds won't continue their food form. I would be very surprised if we hold onto that 6 point lead now.

I'm not sure that Leeds did throw the kitchen sink at us. They never really built up a head of steam and put us under concerted pressure. That's why their crowd was generally silent until the equaliser. Their goals didn't come from good play by them, they just got the rub of the green. For us to get undone by yet another double deflection in a big game is hugely unlucky.

We should have won what is considered the hardest fixture in the league, especially with the form they have been in. But we have lost two in a row before and bounced back.

There are still 12 games left and if we win 8 out of 12, we'll hit 102 points. We've seen Ipswich goon a poor run, Southampton lose 2 recently, and I'm sure Leeds will drop points too. If we win 8, they all have to win 10 out of 12 to catch us, and I can't see all 2 doing that.

We've been so much better than anyone else this season to build the cushion to take a couple of defeats. We'd have all taken 6 clear with 12 to go.

We have a couple of tricky away games in March, but our last 7 all very winnable games.

Don't panic!

The worrying habits we've seen all season are coming home to roost.

A lack of ruthlessness and conceding late goals is really a problem for us. This will be even more pronounced now the pressure is really on.

We got away with it against Birmingham and Millwall but that's four big games on the trot. For all the talk externally from the players about how it's all fine, I hope internally they're a lot more critical.

We should be out of sight and the fact that we're not concerns me.

No that's Leicester away.

But you're right, we are still winning the league and there's no need to panic.

Slightly different slant on it…..

Do we really want to win at a canter? Because will that then give the board an excuse not to properly invest?

I get your point but to be honest it's the same board that thought we were too good to get relegated, and nothing has come from the internal review so I doubt they'll do anything different to be honest - they're the softest of the lot.

On a pragmatic level, did the players complain hard enough for the disallowed goal?

I'd have been in the refs earlier to just go and have a chat with the linesman about who the last touch came off. There is no way the linesman could see. In fact, you could argue he was correct to flag and then inform the ref that Daka was offside IF the touch came off Choudhury. Then the ref could've/ should've decided if he saw that last touch.

I don't think we were demanding enough

Hope Maresca doesn't read, or get to hear about a lot of the nonsense being said on here.

We'll regret it when he goes and we end up with a Rooney, or some other car crash.

If he is that thinned skinned then he should go , us fans are entitled to view are thoughts . Maybe if he had a plan B things might not be so worrying for the fans

Poor officials

Poor finishing

Lack of bottle

Poor substations

People arguing it’s one or the other when it’s quite clearly a combination of all of the above

I can see Farkes League winning lap of honour being used to galvanise some sort of siege mentality amongst the squad just like the Arsenal photo did a few years back.

We will go up as Champions

Since his return We have thrown Mcateer

rightly into the affray. How we treat him from now

on is paramount for our academy hopefuls

He hasn’t been strong enough when needed, but then

DONT FORGET !! this point, neither were important

key players in the team who also waivered..

IMO Enzo not for the 1st time hooked Mavididi

when we needed a secure outlet…

Daka, no problem ,Cannon does give something different.

Rest of the team onfield..Even if you blew chances you

must still deliver mentally and game management wise

a strong finish. We still need to up our quality & delivery

in keeping and holding a last 10 minute 0-0 game situation .

Now despite all the snowflake whining, and jumping on

all over Enzo, squad, players and system

when it hits that self destruct wall,in football terms,we have turned

it around and handled that failure for most of the season.

Its right to mark and then criticise that weakness especially against

this seasons stronger teams. It is an area where Enzo has to solve

and all view , balanced critic and opinions are no worse than the other.

Today, this week slagging off, will be deserved, because again we didnt

hold up against a strong opposition, even though we had them to rights

upto and beyond 80 minutes.

We have not yet found the right script for oppo young dynamic substitution

We have prescribed in many games good substitutions,

but failed( hard word but fits) when we have needed

a strong hand or like the opposition 1-2 subs introduced

that hold or bring dynamically more in those last 10 minutes.

Fans are right when they notice this main frustrating point

against strong quality teams. kick and scratch at those weaknesses,

but if anything even if this season's repetative,

it is something Enzo knows he has to improve on…

whether this squad can deliver I don’t know, maybe not 1 for 1 subs,

but still keeping to system..move players around,

Mcateer into the centre then Praet defending and

attack down the flanks with Mavididi,

No outright CF…Change Fatawu & Mavididi around

defending & attacking different players.

Or later..

Quality in squad has to be invested in.

We need improved fit in and 1 extra quality cover for 2-3 positions.

but that is next season..

I for one have not waivered I am confident & believe this squad will

still be top of the tree come May.
We are better than the rest and will not lose too many points from

now on. Yesterday shown how good we actually are..& can be.

I can’t see any more teams hitting that same sweet weakness spot

again like Leeds did..Our strength will take us through until EOS.

I agree. His little comment about leaving made me have doubts about his commitment to the club. Sounded like a spoilt brat.

Truth is, he’s been great for us. The football isn’t always exciting, but we’ve had some phenomenal results compared to last season. With that said, we’ve also played some terrible clubs in this league. He is going to find next season a challenge when we go up if he cannot adapt or take criticism.
