Brought for ~£25m in 2022/2023, with around £17m add ons over a 5yr contract.

Book value would be ~£20m, assuming no add ons have kicked in. So they'd need to sell for a minimum of £35m (assuming no add ons), and that is just to break even.

He's played 71 times for Forest with 9 goals and 13 assists.

Is any side going to want to pay £40m+ for him? Given everyone who would be interested is in the same boat financially

I think his there most sellable asset, rumours Arsenal are interested.

They've literally got a second XI to sell and they'll still have enough players by next season.

This

they will have no problem reaching that profit given the sheer number of players they can move on, even at lowish fees

also shows why they are appealing because every place they can finish higher is really important to them

Which as we have found it isn't as easy as you think to move on deadwood.

Especially in June when everybody else is trying to offload players. It will be a buyer’s market with heavy downward pressure on transfer fees.

They will find a few that they paid smallish fees for and I’m certain they don’t pay them like we do ours !

it will hurt them though because the ones they move on will be the better players and they’ll be left with the rubbish

Chris Wood was rumoured to be on 100k at Newcastle, doubt he took a big pay cut to go Forest.

Im sure they will make the money but at what cost, they are a bottom 5 club with their current squad, without losing 1 or 2 of their better players especially at cut price offers as like us everybody know they need to sell.

I don't have it to hand but I remember reading that the deal Newcastle offered to Forest for Wood was absolutely absurd and they couldn't believe that Forest accepted it

Profit or loss is determined by book value. If book value is 20m then 20m is the breakeven point. Also, MGW's first year of amortisation was the 22/23 season and the 2nd year is the 23/24 season so NF will have amortised 2 years of his contract for this accounting period meaning the book value will be circa 15m. Any amount above 15m would be profit for NF. Obviously, we do not know the nature of the addons which could impact the numbers

Looking at the way we’re playing I’m beginning to wonder if this financial stuff has had and is continuing to have an impact.

Or, the way the club is run has an impact on the way we play?

Aug 2023 - Feb 2024 - We are unbeatable - going to walk the league and break the points record.

Feb 2024 - May 2024 - Fall apart on and off the pitch and break the record for least points scored by a side finishing in the top 6 in the last 10 matches of the season.

August 24 - Have the book thrown at us by the EFL and start the Championship with -x points and about 8 senior players (including Ward) and still under Transfer Embargo and a statement from the Owner blaming the fans.

Team kicks off with a loss at home in front of an empty stadium, after the club releases its new Diamond XXL Super Membership at an annual cost of £900 to get onto a waiting list for a lottery to have a chance at buying a match ticket, and season ticket holders sent to an internment camp after Showsec spots a pensioner with a medium sandwich and an orphaned child with a Ribena fruit shoot trying to enter the stadium.

The Premier League would, too, if we went up.

I would much rather get it from the Premier League as at least you get a lot more money whilst it happens

Strap yourselves in for Tuesday. We are supposed to be announcing our financial results and it’s worse than first feared.

The good news just keeps on coming.

The EFL are gonna absolutely have us next year

First feared?

by who ?

They were given to the efl a month ago together with our management accounts for this season. The reaction of the Pl and EFL this month has shown they must have been pretty grim.

I wonder if we’re allowed to change them once we’ve passed them over?  I mean we may have decided to go big last season to try and get as much news out there as early as possible.  You can amend your accounts right up until you file them.  Perhaps we decided that as we’ve been charged by the epl we may as well put a bigger chunk of amortisation into last year.
