Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'

Recommended Posts

You've got to hand it to Chelsea, they just don't give a ****.

We need their lawyers because they'll find even the smallest loophole when it comes to PSR.

Life under Big Johnny Rudkin

If Fossehub said it was dark out at midnight, I would still stick my head out the window to check.

I honestly believe they either read half a story or just make it up.

If we're in the clear for 23/24 and our punishment just pertains to 22/23 as has been speculated, surely we've got some strong mitigation to avoid punishment. We sold an important player for £70m, replaced him for £15m. Let go of one of our most important players ever and didn't replace him because we couldn't afford the wages.

Also, after an unprecedented period of success for the club where every player and agent worked hard to take the club for everything they had, we were still adjusting to a budget that doesn't include European football money. This isn't an overnight process but no one can look at our dealings and say we had our head in the sand. We were facing it head on.

This careful (some say negligent) lack of investment meant we got relegated, had valuable players leave on a free and others sold for less than their market value.

Any further punishment would just be egregious.

prepare for egregarity  (not a real word) then

our plight reflects that the rules don't provide for a 'small club' to try and challenge the big boys  - but they're the rules

After reading the previous reports for Everton and Forest, I noticed that there are few mitigating circumstances they will accept as an excuse. It would have to be truly exceptional, as their viewpoint is that you should plan ahead for all eventualities so that you can comply even if the very worst happens.

Top marks for use of the term ‘egregious’!

I’m not usually too bad in terms of my word-smithery, but What does it mean?

🤷‍♂️

It's kind of like drink driving for a year, throwing away the bottles after realising you've been caught then claiming that the guilt is punishment enough.

when is the point deduction confirmed and how long does it take for an appeal?

As we are on the old timescales, it will be around October and November.

No, it isn't.

Course it is. We broke the rules and it there's nobody to blame but ourselves. Then getting relegated with a £190m wage budget is absolutely nothing to do with us breaking the rules. That was our incompetence coming back to bite us. "We got relegated so we don't deserve punishment" should hold absolutely no weight with the league.

Hopefully these blatant floundering of the rules make it so farcical that it aides our defence and we end up with minimal deduction or that our case is dismissed and both Forest and Everton are awarded their points back from last season.

These actions whilst not a direct breach are making an utter mockery of the system. I would imagine a very good sports lawyer such as a Nick DiMarco would drive a bus through it.

Absolutely, if Chelsea can do this and the hotel sale, then it benefits us. We'll be able to argue how bad the rules are.

.... Wait... sorry, what.

The sale of the women's club can count towards their Premier League PSR/FFP?

Surely that's just click bait, has anyone bothered verifying outside that tweet? There's no ****ing way, surely?

The only reason people are ranting on about a 12 point deduction is because of the Everton Ex CEO Keith Wyness bumping his gums and spreading shit on click bait sites, trying to take the heat off Everton and get there own back after the likes of Leicester and Forest threat of going after them for millions in compensation because they avoided relegation. We need to fight this and I am sure we will football and the people running it are corrupt from the bottom to the top.

We never threatened Everton with anything.

I can't believe that people still trot this stuff out in defence of these willy pullers.

The rules are shit. The actual wording of the rules is shit, the coherence of competence of the of the EFL and EPL is shit. We might have some of our own issues, but facts remain the rules are set up to protect the Red Cartel.

It's reasonable that a club challenging for the top 10 for 3 consecutive seasons, getting in to Europe and winning the FA Cup, might not prepare to sack a so called 'elite' manager and get relegated.

There's an element of risk, the owners absorb it. If you want to try and compete you gotta take risk. Otherwise it's a Brentford/Bournemouth/Palace style operation of nothingness.

If that's what we HAVE to accept to comply with 'the rules' selling our best players and the Red cartel claming their top 6 place and European spot no matter how badly they are run and blatantlycheating the rules...what is the actual point of the Premier League? Or quite honestly football at the top level?

No THEY are with their total incoherent incompetence. They've been trying to deal with Man City and Chelsea for 2 years, problem is they don't even know what the so called rules are themselves. Bunch of incompetent corrupt ****wits!

We have been, and still are, challenging the PL’s right to sanction us. We’ll almost certainly lose this challenge but it will delay proceedings for a bit longer.

Even without that it wouldn't be sorted until the late autumn.

I’d rather get a deduction whilst the season has started than beforehand, I think having some wins under our belt first helps rather than having the psychological blow of seeing -6 or -8 before a ball is kicked

100% this.
