Managerial Replacements

Recommended Posts

I don’t buy it.

If you wanted to put some pressure on Potter to shit or get off the pot (which it looks like we might be doing). Then you wouldn’t use the alternative manager you would sign to do that… you’d use someone else - Cooper.

So hopefully this means we are pushing for Potter to give us an answer. And if that answer is “no”. Then hopefully we have someone else lined up - Corberan.

That’s what I’m clinging to anyway

Not seen outrage like this since we were linked with the “fat, slow and useless” Nottingham Forest Captain a decade or so ago.

Just because that worked out doesn't mean every other signing will

I am absolutely pinning my hopes on this going down as one of the most ill-judged overreactions in this history of this board (and the competition is strong) and that we all end up sheepishly feeling embarrassed at having ever doubted Cooper...

if Potter is stalling, go and look at literally any other manager than Steve ****ing Cooper. like if Cooper gets appointed it shows that the club have no plan whatsoever and are just winging it. like, Potter at least is a clear line from Enzo and would imply a stylistic ideal from the club that players will be signed for and managers slotted into. appointing some sort of footballing terrorist who has failed at this level just means you don't have a Scooby

Now, it might be bluster but Cooper has always stated he wanted to play, exciting attacking football (but that he’s pragmatic about getting there). I’d imagine he’s gone into the interview and said the same.

Cooper: “We want to play with purpose, dominate possession, play forward, and get the ball back as quick as we can“

I can totally trust a source whose name is what I did that time when I wore underpants with really stiff elastication:

Let’s be honest, this place specialises in being spectacularly wrong. So fingers crossed.

What speaks against though is over the summer of 2023, the signings slow - more players leave and the turnover isn't as high while getting players with PL experience and World Cup winners.

He then turns out 14 points from a possible 51.

A fair point.

Funnily enough they picked up 16 pts from their next possible 51, which isn't vastly different. Then 6 from the last 4.

I guess it depends how much control he's had over the signings and if he's had/or wanted the chance to vet personalities.

To me it seems like he probably had very little say in signings and has been tasked with working what he has - history could well say I was being kind.

Pros for me are, he seems like a decent bloke and has a track record of working with young players. I think that's something that'll come in handy for us if we want to turn the financial shape of the club around. Can be tactically flexible and work with players he had rather than ramming a style down his squads throat.

Main negatives seem to be his style of football is defensive and risk averse and that he plays the victim card. I can't stand either of these two things, so I'm hoping at a new club he loses those traits (if he has them).

You'd assume he will be hired and tasked to play a possession based style of football while developing young talent to help improve our standing and to sell for profit. Almost a bit like Puel, but he's got a head start of not having a team that's been playing Rugby for 2/3 seasons.

And I’ve always stated I want to be a millionaire but sadly I’m not and won’t be unless a miracle happens. Point I’m making is it’s fine wanting something but evidence has shown he’s been unable to implement this at the clubs he’s been at.

If the club has just believed someone’s word without looking at the tape then we are even more of a shambles than I thought we was.

Let's be honest - the chances of Potter ever coming to this ongoing shitshow of a club bordered on zero all along.

What is there at KPFC for him? No money, broken squad, twat of a DoF, playboy boss who hasn't got a grip, admin who've lost control of finances, points deduction, disaffected fanbase where discontent is going to rise massively this season...and being expected to play Marescaball, which increasingly bored the tits off everyone.

The KPFC clown car arrives in the Prem and all the wheels have fallen off. What a surprise.

Also Potter can walk into the England job  myself while he knows coming to Leicester he'll have to find and recruit his backroom staff because the board are so incompetent to recruit any. Most of Potter's backroom staff stayed at Chelsea when he got sacked except for his assistant

I honestly have no idea why we're unhappy about the idea of any of the three supposed main candidates. On paper, Cooper's record is a good deal better than I was expecting of our new boss in that he's improved both clubs he's managed, achieving a very tricky EPL survival in the process. In fact, I'd argue that his record is the best of those on offer given our circumstances.

Yes, he's ugly, but if that meant anything Paulo Sousa would be our greatest ever boss. Yes, he was at Forest, but several of our best managers had close links with rivals (e.g. Milne and O'Neill at Cov/Forest). So that counts for nothing either.

I certainly see no benefit in being up in arms if we make any sort of sensible appointment. After all, remember how underwhelmed we were by Little (ahead of Lee and Beck), O'Neill (ahead of Walker), Pearson (over Ferguson, then O'Neill) and Ranieri. On the other hand we were mostly ecstatic to see Pleat, Eriksson and Holloway walk through the door, and unduly seduced by the unknown pleasures of Taylor and Levein too. We get it wrong as often as not because the right fit for the right club is hard to predict. Our new boss will need a lot of patience - possibly even beyond relegation - so from our perspective we've got to summon a bit of positivity if it's going to have a chance of working.

Accidentally suggested that O'Neill had been at Coventry

I was really keen on Potter and thought he'd do well here. However, if he is stalling for whatever reason it means there must be an element of doubt in his head. If that's the case we can't give him the job as even if he tried, subconsciously his head & heart would never really be 100% in it.

Spot on.

If he was indeed stalling, then Potter can get fvcked.

No way should we appoint a manager who’s heart is not in it.

That feeling with Potter has been felt for weeks, if he was that keen, he would have taken the job 1-2 weeks ago.

fair enough but at no point has he ever implemented it, it's always been about as appealing as hammering nails into your eyeballs. maybe he's given mitigating circumstances as to why he couldn't in past jobs but it just seems like we've been ridiculously naïve, on his past performances the CV should have printed straight into the shredder if we've got a long term plan to play the way we did under enzo
